but then Devi Maa is offered a Mangal Sutra and Sindoor in her Pooja(atleast in Sarasawts we do,dont know about other parts of India),its always given to her,hence if they hadnt shown it certain sections might have been confused!

regarding the finding the ring thing-thats a modern invention

but considering they created a utpatang time machine this isnt much of thier creativity

All south indian goddess have mangalsutra or thirumangalyam .. and the center parting in the hair filled with kum kum / sindoor in the north.
If u have been to Balaji tirupathi mandir. during the kalyanotsavam u can see the most beautiful mangalsutra.
If u visit the Madurai Meenakashi temple there too u can see the "THALI" around the goddess neck.

It's actually pretty recent, less than 2000 years old (I think it developed around the 5th or 6th century AD). Thing is, over time as religious rituals change people tend to apply them to the gods they worship and even (retroactively) to the mythological stories that are passed on from generation to generation. So the stories and icons, etc themselves evolve with the changing customs. The same story would be represented one way a thousand years ago and another way two thousand years ago. It would be different in eastern India compared to southern India. Etc. So it's not surprising that this "evolution" is now continuing on tv in the modern era.
