A week passed by & I forgot I had met somebody , the annual Diwali Mela had kept us occupied. That fete was quiet a mania among us , wearing trendy clothes , accessories , flaunting your silky tresses , that was quiet in. The fiesta turned out to be a rocking fair , at least for me. Couldn't find anybody who had dressed better or who looking better than me. I was happy.

As soon as I reached home , I went online to check my scraps on Orkut . I saw Yash online. He immediately sent me text.

Yash : Hiii Aarti

Aarti : Hello

Yash : Did you attend the fete?

Aarti : What a silly question! Which girl misses the fete in our school?

Yash : LOL

Aarti : 😊 BTW I saw you , you were in pink right?

Yash : Yeah! Embarrassing color. My friend had gifted me that T-shirt & asked me to wear that.

Aarti : Thats sweet. Ok I gotta go. Really tired & drowsy. Bye. Take care.

I didn't even bother to get his reply & signed out.

A couple of weeks passed by , my semester had prevented me to go online. After giving my last exam , I logged-in & saw Yash's offline message :

"Hey Aarti! Long time no see! How are your exams going? Take care 😊"

I was about to reply when he just logged in. Immediately I received a huge 'Hellooo'

"Hi" , I replied back.

Yash : So whats up?

Aarti : Nothing.

Yash : How did your exams go?

Aarti : They were fine. Yours?

Yash : They were fine too. So anything new these days.

Aarti : Yup! Preparations for Carol Singing. Got selected in my class's group of five.

Yash : Do you sing Aarti?

Aarti : Yes! But not like you. Mozart! 😛

Yash : Wow! I didn't know that. What canticle are you guys singing?

Aaarti : Joy to the world.

Yash : Thats a wonderful carol. One of my favorite.

Aarti : Really? Great.

We talked for an hour then logged out when we remembered we had to study too.

Next day , I asked my mother to make me a special plait to flaunt. I put up a very dark kohl , wore my shiny silver ear accessory , after all I was singing a Christmas Carol in front of my whole school. Excitedly , anxiously , I reached the assembly ground where we were supposed to gather. We , singers were made to stand in a line in front of the assembly. My gaze fell on Yash , who was already looking at me , he smiled . I'd remember that twinkled smile for all my ages. It is still fresh in my memory . He kept on smiling , I smiled back too but before that I bent my head down , almost burrowed my gaze in ground , deeper & deeper. I felt thousand butterflies fluttering in my belly. That feeling , had felt for the first time. There was an enthralling charm in his delectable smile. Why did he have to do that!

Next. Our program commenced our class was the first one to sing. We reached the stage & I was standing at the center , trying hard not to look at the tall brown guy who was standing just in front of him. A mild smile spread on my face & we started our Carol.

After the program got over , results were announced . Our class came second. We were happy because we were not really expecting anything , our guitarist hadn't shown up. I looked at Yash , he blinked his eyes giving me the sign of congrats. I smiled like an idiot .

The day at school got over & while coming back to home I told Shobha about Yash. She immediately asked me , "I hope you are not falling for Yash".

"Yeah! Im not"

"You better not. He already has a girlfriend.You know Aarpita right?"

Yes. It was too early to anticipate my feelings. But I didn't welcome the new information kindly. I felt uneasy.

I reached home , logged in , found him there. After exchanging usual 'hii-hellos' I trudged into a serious topic.

Aarti : Yash! Arpita is your girlfriend right?

God! Why did I have to ask him that. What right did I have? But I just couldn't stop myself.

Yash : How do we define girlfriend?

Aarti : The girl who professes to love you but love your wallet instead.

Yash : 🤣

Aarti : Ok! A girl who loves you with all her heart & soul.

Yash : Hmmm. Then she really is my girlfriend 😆 No Aarti. She is just my good friend. Actually one of the best friends. Why did you ask?

Aarti : Why ? Cant I ask you?

Yash : You can . You have all the right too.

If Shobha would have asked me the question she asked in the bus , my answer would have been different. Aarti , always surrounded by mean , tough , unpleasant guys had now met a charming , suave guy. How could I stop myself of thinking about him?

We chatted till 11 that night till I received the scolding of my uncle.

Next morning I was yawning as I stood in my row , Yash who was standing adjacent to my row yawned too. I couldn't help my giggle. Meanwhile Paridhi came & hugged me from back.

"Whats the matter! Why do you look so sleepy?" , she was loud enough for Yash to hear. Embarrassed , he took out his chemistry book & started discussing a query with his friend. I embraced Paridhi tight & told her how much I love her. I narrated everything to her that day.

The beautiful days kept on getting better & better but our winter vacations were about to commence . The last day before the vacations he was coming upstairs with Arpita & a guitar in his hands , must have partied for christmas , while I was going downstairs. Neither did he look at me , nor did I.

Our vacations started. I didn't go online for two days. But after that we talked daily , whole day , whole night. A day before Christmas his family had left for vacations to south. He sounded low , I did all I could do to cheer him up.

Yash : Aarti. You know. You are special. I have never talked this much with anybody. You are special.

Aarti : Awww! You made me feel so special. Yash. I don't know what importance I hold in your life. But you are indeed special. Very special.

The tte--tte continued for the whole vacation. On 31th Dec , he called on my computer & sang , 'Main koi aisa geet gaoon , ki aarzoo jataoon , agar tum kaho' ❤️ While listening to the song I had shut my eyes lightly & little pearls of tear drops were locating way to come out. Even I don't know why did I behave so , umm--- weirdly!

My mother didn't allow me to go online next day & asked me spend the 'new year' with family. But I was longing to talk to Yash , I wanted to wish him new year. But I couldn't even send him a single offline message.

On 2nd Jan'05 , our school reopened. I was very excited , the excitement I cant express in words , but to my vain school didn't have the assembly in the main ground but in respective classes because of the chilling weather. I didn't even get the chance to see his face properly that whole day.

With the long face I reached home & sat on my computer , he wasn't there. Next day , he wasn't there. Days kept on passing , I found no trace of his on orkut , messenger. Those moments of detachment kept on spellbinding me & I kept on thinking about him.

Where was he? Why was he not coming online? Was he regretting 'wasting' his time chatting with his junior all vacations? What was happening with me? Why did he stop talking to me , stop coming online all of a sudden?

Then on 15th Jan , I was standing near canteen with my friend when I saw him waving at me.
