What I meant to say was that if she was such a big superstar why didn't her song improve the prospects of the movie at all? Directors include item numbers by popular dancers to draw crowds, but I don't think Mal Sau De attracted anyone (of course, the dancing and choreography was horrible)

Hmm, valid question and I see your point...but like Shreya said, it can happen if the song, choreography, dancing, everything sucks..and thus doesn't create a buzz at all...not even in a really negative way (like Deepika's Dum Maaro Dum, or Kareena's mujra in AV managed to). There's other examples of bigger stars like Salman and SRK doing special apperances, songs in some movies and those still failing at the BO...like SRK did some song for his home production with youngsters...it still failed completely. Sallu did something for Tell Me O khuda and that failed too.
