'Nobody wants to tie me a rakhi!'

...that's Arjun Punjj's story. So what are the other TV celebs up to this Raksha Bandhan? Harshada Rege finds out

Since Raksha Bandhan is celebrated with much aplomb on the small screen, we decided to check out how our actors celebrate the festival offscreen.

ARJUN PUNJJ

Unfortunately, I don't have any sisters as I am the only child. But, my cousins who
live abroad send me rakhis every year and I tie them without fail. I am waiting for their rakhis to arrive this time too and I am sure I'll get them before the festival. Actually, nobody wants to tie me a rakhi!

SAI DEODHAR

My brothers don't live here. Most of my cousins are located in Pune and hence I used to go there. But now with my shooting schedule I don't get time to visit them. Instead, I just invite
my cousins who live in the city for a quiet dinner. Also, north Indians send rakhis even to their sons and daughter-in-laws, so I'll probably get those from my inlaws. But it's definitely the family dinner that I really look forward to.

REENA KAPOOR

This Raksha Bandhan, I am going to be all by myself. My brother is a sailor and he's on the ship right now. So, we can't be together on that day. And though I miss him everyday, on Raksha Bandhan, I miss him more than ever. For me rakhi means giving gifts, not getting them, because my brother is the youngest in the family and we have always given him gifts. Unfortunately, this year though I have sent him a rakhi, I don't think he'll get it in time.

ANKUR NAYAAR

My sisters don't live in Mumbai. But they do send me rakhis before the festival. I make sure that I wear those on the day. But I don't necessarily wait for this day to give gifts to my sisters. We have a strong bond
and it's okay if we don't celebrate it on a particular day. However, I will be visiting my home town sometime later this month, so I guess my sisters will expect some goodies from me.

NIKHIL ARYA

My sister lives in the US and though she does come down once in a while saying that I miss her on Raksha Bandhan is an understatement. We email each other regularly, but this Raksha Bandhan my parents will be visiting her, so I have sent her a letter. I am sure she will be surprised as I am not the kind of person who will actually sit down to write a long letter. I am looking forward to her call. And I am sure that, like every year, this year too she'll send her rakhi on time.

ROSHNI CHOPRA

I don't have a real brother, but I have always sent rakhis for my cousin in the US. His sister ties him the rakhi on my behalf. I don't tie a rakhi to any friend or colleague, because I haven't come across anyone whom I can expect to look after me. And I don't believe in tying a rakhi just for the sake of it.
