After Vinod Bachchan's Zila Ghaziabad and Vishal Bharadwaj's Omkara, the UP underworld has now caught director Tigmanshu Dhulia's fancy and he's now casting Saif Ali Khan as an underworld operative of UP in his next.
Reveals a source, "Yes, Saif and Tigmanshu are all set to begin this film which will be based on a story of the mafia in Uttar Pradesh. Saif will be playing the protagonist in the film."
Although Saif is very pleased with the success of Cocktail, he now wants to get out of his image of a lover boy. "Yes, Cocktail has worked but that doesn't mean that romance is the only genre for him. His own Agent Vinod did considerably well. That's why he is also doing Race 2 and Go Goa Gone also."
Meanwhile, there are also murmurs that Saif's part in Dhulia's film will be on the lines of Saif's earlier iconic character Langda Tyagi. "Saif is against that though", our source continues, "Even though there was a mention of Langda Tyagi, Saif was sure that he wasn't going to repeat the part. Yes, the film is set in UP but a different shade has to be brought to Saif's characterization in the film. Tigmanshu is working around that."
