Part 11

Arohi was on cloud 9, the mysterious looking handsome hunk was head over heels in love with her, so much so that he could not stop himself from saying ILu to her. Wish she could find the right words to tell him how much she loves him as much as he does. The night had ended so blissfully. she felt he found it hard to leave from there, he must be wanting so much to be with her, it is all true what they show in movies the tadap the longing the bechaini, he definitely felt all that only he doesnot show it and how she loved seeing him walk away unwillingly like she held the reins to make him happy again. Whether people understand him or not she will.

Arjun was never so pleased and displeased with himself. His plan worked perfectly pleasing him the involvement with a girl that too to the extent of love and marriage displeased him. There was no going back , he has told himself a 100 times. Now it is only better to take it forward marry her then show the ahluwalias how it feels to loose a loved one. Let them pine to see their daughter happy. Holding that thought he called her. She was alone in her room, admiring herself in the mirror, arjun's call made her see herself blush. Her cheeks were on fire it was a struggle to say hello to him. how wierd just an hour ago she was fine saying ILU to him and now saying a simple hi was difficult. Finally when she said hello it was like a whisper that made Arjun too skip a beat. Only one beat, quickly he was upto work, 'are you okay?' he asked 'yes ofcourse' arohi's tone too returned to normal. 'your voice was really low, like u have caught cold' 'no I am fine' it was your call that made me nervous she thought. 'can we meet tomorrow then' he was asking for a date, he cannot wait to meet her, like she can , she wanted to see him long for her again it just made her feel so good 'tomorrow?' 'yes, why wont you be able to? ' 'I dont know, I am not sure I will be free' 'really? how about making some time for me' 'should I?' 'wont you?' 'what if I cant?' 'I doubt that. you want to bet?' 'how can you be so sure?' 'I think I know that much' 'you could be wrong?' 'me wrong? I think it is the other way around' 'I too am not wrong' she smiled. 'so you can make it or not?' she frowned no coaxing no pleading no sweet nothings phew she has to teach him so much. 'if you want me to' she said the sweetness in her voice could not be missed even by him 'I want you to' he said effortlessly 'then I will' she said happy that she made him say what she wanted to hear. he wants her to meet him.

This time it was a bunch of red roses waiting for her. The date was like always him talking less and she talking more, that is how she liked it, seeing the amusing exressions in his eyes while she talked. She felt she was making a bright difference in his otherwise monotonous business life. She has seen her dad and her brother talk abt bussiness, how dull it looked. Arjun too must be going through the same, that is why he loved to listen to her. It is her duty now to see that he is tension free when he is with her. Their date was half through when Arjun felt someone was staring at them, when he looked he noticed that person was staring at Arohi. Just then that person got up and walked towards their table 'arohi? is that really you?' she too looked at the direction of the voice. The tall handsome man in his early 20's approached them. 'oh my god' arohi said looking at him, 'are you, you are, omg Chikuuu' she got up and hugged as he extended his arms out to her, while arjun looked on not sure how he was feeling seeing her hugging a guy who had been staring at her. Arohi sat in her chair with excited face looking at arjun and back at chiku signalling him to join them. Arjun fixed a formal smile to his face as chiku said a mute hi to him by nodding his head. 'wow look at you' he said turning to arohi 'you have not changed at all, you are the same gorgeous arohi, pretty as always, only you have grown from a pretty girl to a fine lady who can make any man go nuts', hitting on his girlfriend in front of him? arjun was now irritated. 'and you look the same too, you have gained lot of weight and grown a lot taller, how long has it been? last time was high school farewell?' 'yes , wow what days those were' Arjun coughed to get arohi's attention. 'oh I am so sorry,Arjun this is chiku my schoolmate, chiku this is arjun my...' blushing made her stop, she looked more pretty 'let me guess your boyfriend?' chiku immediately added not letting her finish, Arjun could not miss the jealousy in his voice and eyes as they shook hands. 'yeah' arohi shyly acknowledged 'soon to be fiancee actually' arjun added, how good it felt to add to chiku's jealous looks. Arohi choked on her drink, it should have been her to say anything like this but Arjun saying himself that too to someone he just met, this man was beyond her wild dreams. 'oh I see' chiku said then changing the subject he turned to arohi 'how have you been, we lost touch after school, I even tried to contact you' , she was not listening to him, she was fixated on arjun who was busy trying to figure out what to eat first,'arohi?' chiku called out again 'haan?' 'it's been a while, we lost touch after school' he said in a sad tone realising arohi was completely into arjun and had paid no attention to him. 'yeah, I know, I heard you went to Delhi' 'ya I did, I live there now, was visiting my relatives here, I tried contacting you you number has changed' 'yep' she said looking at arjun to see if he was done chosing, he smiled at her as if did not want to interrupt between the friends.

He was listening to every word chiku was saying and catching every little change in his tone. Chiku saw the exchange of smiles and was filled with visible jealousy and contempt 'I had a major crush on her you know, I was perfect for her' he blurted out turning to arjun 'excuse me?' arjun said at this sudden outburst 'I was the first to fall for arohi, before you, during school days, but I was not good enough, since I was poor?' stating and questioning arohi at the same time turning towards her. 'chikuu' she was startled at this change in him. 'okay listen, dont create a scene here' arjun tried to stop chiku 'no really arohi, tell me what was lacking in me except money, I was head over heels for you and you just rejected' 'chikuu, what is this nonsense, you realise where I am and with whom' 'yes I do, apparently with your wouldbe, who appears to be rich' 'you leave or I will have to call the security' arjun said flatly, 'yes ofcouse I will leave, I left long back, and now I will again, good luck arohi, may be you dont realise now but you will one day that I would have been the best thing ever to happen in your life' 'chiku just leave from here' arohi said in a shaking voice. giving a cold stare to arjun he left. An awkward silence followed. 'Arjun I ..' arohi tried to explain, 'nope no need arohi, it doesnot matter' 'but I have to tell you I will feel better, it is true that chiku did have a crush on me, we were too young 15 or 16, last year of our school he kept saying he likes me. but I was never inclined towards him, he is too clingy, money minded and self obsessed, and I have never liked him more than a friend.I told him finally to leave me alone and later on he had left the city, I did not even keep in touch with him' 'I hope he does not trouble you, if he does just call me, I will fix him' he said and added 'he better not praise you again in front of me or he is dead' while he was surprised at this involuntary statement, it sent a thrill and chill in arohi, he was saying he cannot tolerate anyone else eyeing her, how sweet, she forgot all about chiku, she was just excited arjun was angry enough to say this. Arjun was on different page, it was natural to say it and he had, ofcourse even if it is acting he would not like to see any other man showing interest in her. He had to somehow justify what had automatically come out of him. He could not forget what chiku had said. It could be true, afterall she is an ahluwalia it is quite possible she rejected chiku for being poor. money rules everyone in that family. It is good he is rich for his plan to work, or else may be arohi would not have even looked at him. This assumption made him feel better only because he knew subconsiously that what he was doing was wrong. Chiku will come back once again in their lives, that is for later, for now it is free lane for arjun.

First person she told that arjun confessed was Shefali. Her family had guessed it already, and seeing arohi's glowing face and jubiliant mood. It was in the open. Sanchit was pleased with them both. His fake affection to arjun increased. It was time to take it further. So he proposed. Just like arohi would have wanted after a candle light dinner at a place of her choice, he knew her taste by now, make it as dreamy and filmy and she will like it. She had tears in her eyes again, it was all overwhelming, how can everything go so perfectly like she wanted. After confession during and after dates he was not expressing or doing anything romantic, everytime she thought he would kiss her before leaving and everytime she was disappointed. But now the man of her dreams proposing to her in a romantic way, making her feel special. She should have guessed it when he insisted she come in her finest attire. Afterall the moment itself was fine. It needed all the atomsphere, not that she would be less happy if he had done it in the most clumsy way, it would not have really mattered. What mattered was him proposing and she agreeing, how and where should not mean much. It she has to live in a hut with him she would, she was sure even there he would treat her like a princess. He pulled out a tiny box from his suit while a group of well dressed men started playing voilins. She could not even hear properly that he said 'will you marry me' she came to senses when he was slipping the ring on her finger that she had outstrecthed. Her happiness was unlimited. They announced their engagement in front of her family, Daddu wanted a grand party for his granddaughter.

Jai was observing Arjun's activities and tried to find out what he doing getting involved with his enemy's sister. When Arjun invited him to his engagement he was shocked. He asked if Arjun was trying to play games with an innocent girl and if he did he should quit since it is not advisable. Arjun's cold 'do not worry' had stopped him from questioning further. He asked if daadi knew, Arjun said 'I will tell her when time comes'. This seemed a dangerous game to Jai.

Arohi wore a Dark green and Deep red ghagra for the occassion, she wore the necklace Arjun had gifted even if it did not match her dress. Arjun would be lying to himself if he said it did not affect him, her beauty and her smile had started to bother him nowadays. He did not want to feel good when he saw her, but sometimes he was not able to stop himself from feeling good. Seeing the ahluwalia family all happy and joyous satisfied him, let them be happy for now. People cheered as they exchanged rings and garlands. Arohi's friends started shouting 'kiss kiss kiss'. Arjun was startled at this request, He frowned. Arohi noticing this signalled her friends to be quiet, she knew arjun would not do anything like that in front of so many people, he had not even held her close even when they were alone, kiss was a long shot, but it did stir a longing, a need to be in his arms. Flooded by her feelings for him she got up from her group and walked to the piano. As she started playing it everyone gathered around her. Since it was his engagement party Arjun could not leave like before. She sang a song that she truly believed in. That was completely meant for Arjun, the song told the way she was going to mould her life for him. It could melt anyone on earth, the honesty in her voice the love in her eyes was something any guy could die for

he was least interested in it now and was unmoved, but later will it melt arjun's heart, can it heal his wounded blazing heart?. will he be able to give a place in his heart to a girl coming from the family he hates, will he be able to recognise the honesty in her voice that she means every word of these lines, if so when and how? is arohi really going to live these lines, even after her heart is broken, will she still believe in 'love heals all wounds'?

Her eyes were brimmed with tears as she walked to him. As she approached him shefali played the music and asked everyone to join in to dance. Arohi put her hand on his shoulder As couples moved around the floor he put his hand on her waist and moved to the music. She was looking at his face while he looked away. He was not willing to see the love in her eyes. She leaned her head on his chest to compose herself. As the music ended, he wanted to get out of the dance floor before another round started. He led her to the side in the pretext of talking 'that was some party' he said she knew he was wanted to avoid all the noise 'arjun will you come with me' she took his hand as he nodded, she took him to her room. 'here now it is calm and quiet, you were not comfortable with all that noise right?' no he was not comfortable with the dance precisely he tought, She closed the door. She turned to see arjun looking out the window with his back to her. The ring he put on her was shining, the feel of his wide chest when she put her head, the arm lightly placed on her waist, the feel of his shoulder, what a dance it was, wish they danced all night. She wanted to feel it all again. As her heart fluttered she hugged him from behind pressing the side of her face to his back. He was startled by her move, he turned around and that made arohi put her hands around his neck. His fiancee, dressed up looking beautiful, eyes filled with love, hands around him, was looking at him, with anticipation and he was thinking of a way to get out. 'thanks' she said, Keeping his hands still to his sides he replied 'what for?' 'for everything' she smiled. Her glittering necklace caught his attention, now he noticed that was his gift. It looked very pretty on her. 'and sorry' she said 'what for?' he put his hands on hers to remove from around his neck 'my friends. They went a little ahead and asked us to kiss' she blushed. He had forgotten that. 'I know you dont like to do such things in public' wanting to know if he would now, how gorgeous it would be if he kissed her right now when they were alone, if he didnot then she would, she was not able to control her feelings anymore. Seeing the hope in her eyes, the proximity, the moment all played with his senses, his hands that were going to remove her hands slowly rested on either side of her waist. 'well you know me too well' he said in a low voice. 'do I?' she too whispered and moved her face a little closer to his. As a reflex and as a basic instinct kicked in he too moved his face towards her. To cover the tiny distance between them he had to pull her a little towards him as his lips touched hers. Now arms were around his neck, his arms around her waist. He was just being a man,
she was being Arohi who was hopelessly in love with arjun. Her hand slowly moved through his hair then as if struck by a bolt he released her quickly, she was glowing and her eyes were on fire. How she wished it never ended. It had caused a tingling sensation all over her. Something unique sweet and exotic. 'I think we should go down' he said avoiding to look at her. As the party ended, arjun had gone back to being serious while arohi was still in her wonderland not noticing any change in him. She could still feel his scent the touch of his lips, his arms around her.

When he reached his suite and was alone he just collapsed in his chair, what the hell happened to him to loose control like that. He cannot get emotionally or physically attached to her. That is not the plan. Come what may, how much ever he gets tempted he should not loose focus like this again. Sleep evaded him. He could not forget the soft touch he felt all over him, her lips against his.If a stubborn sage like Vishwamitra could succumb to Menaka, what was in arjun's capacity to not finally get attracted to the woman who was truly in love with him. To understand that he needs to spend more time with her, as of now, he just rubbished it as a moment of weakness caused by the chaos evening. As much as he wanted to forget he could not forget his first kiss, he had to agree it was splendid indeed. After he thought that way he felt better and could sleep. Ofcourse he did, after all acknowledging the truth always feels better.

Arohi and sehfali were in her room going through the engagement pictures. Arohi was admiring each one of them like it was the first pic she saw. Shefali who had noticed something that day wanted to talk to her. 'Arohi I want to tell you something if you promise you wont get angry' she started. Arohi busy in checking the photos 'look at this, picture perfect no, but did i use too much blush' 'no it is your natural blush, you were blushing red though out like you were near fire'

arohi blushed again she sure was near the fire, and fire had even slightly ignited in her room, mere memory again caused the warm sensation. She should call him, he had not, atleast she should, may be he thinks she is angry or something but she was not. Shefali shook her. Arohi remembered she wanted to say something. 'so you wanted to tell me something' 'it is about arjun' with arjun , shefali got arohi's undivided attention 'i dont know, i might be wrong, but i have observed something about him' 'what' arohi was curious 'see I am no expert in love, but something is wrong here, I dont see love in his eyes for you, the way I see in yours for him, how they shine when u or others say his name, I dont see that happen to him when he is around you, are you sure he is the one?' 'ofcourse he is, you have no idea how he feels when he is around me, I can feel it, he doesnot like much to be around people, he is more confortable when we are alone' as her cheeks started to turn pink again she told shefali 'we kissed that day' 'whaatt, really, wow' shefali got excited too 'ahem how did it feel?' she asked, 'out of this world, you too find a nice guy, you wont regret I tell you' the two friends chatted away happily for a long time.

If only arohi had paid attention to this and not just to his name, if only she did not brush it off as he doesnot express in public, if only she did not find it true on the wedding night...
