Chapter 7

Time To Move On

Manyata sat there on the armchair analysing one of the latest Devgad and jaigad joint project. The complex data and endless if then analysis made her head heavy .She adjusted her specks on her beautifully carved nose and closed the file trying to relax. She looked through wide tall glasses of her room's door sized window as down in the lawn Maali kaka was watering the plants .Her heart fluttered as she saw the black lancer coming in through the gate, she got the glimpse Udayveer coming out ,casually dressed in white shirt and blue jeans So Udayveer was back from his business trip she thought and now he was here to discuss it with DS .

It was six month since they got separated and since then Manyata has watched him like this from the her window though there were times when he passed by her in the corridor, giving her a casual side glance and on Fridays he always had his breakfast at Rajmahal as on request of Badi Maasa who made sure that Udayveer did not loose family touch forever. But then he neither talked to her on breakfast table, nor in the corridor never did he talk to her anywhere else. He seemed to ignore her very existence in Rajmahal, for him she was nothing more then a acquaintance whom he often met. In the beginning Manyata tried to break the ice which Udayveer seemed to have deliberately created but she failed due his matter of fact and placid behaviour that ice had turned into an iceberg now with chilling coldness and endless silence.

Maharani Komal watched Manyata as she had dozed on her armchair with file on her lap. Komal carefully removed her glasses and loving caressed her daughter. Komal knew her daughter had sacrificed everything for sake rajparivaar, riyasat and its people. Her light hearted ,chirpy and jovial Manayata had long vanished and the present Manyata was nothing but a reclusive, quit and mature piece of robot who followed a daily routine and whose all actions were dedicated only and only to family and riyasat. She felt that her daughter Manyata has cloistered herself in some invisible shell whereas Udayveer seemed to be all so happy and enjoying his life to fullest . Komal felt it was high time now and she won't let her daughter live a loveless life like her mother. She decided to confront Rajmata regarding the helplessness of her child and end her sufferings due to Yuvraaj Udayveer Singh tag. Maharani Komal felt that the divorce was the only way to free her daughter let her move on in her life the way Udayveer already did.

Rajmata Mrinali devi did not seem happy with Maharani komal's idea. She knew Manyata was internally burning herself to give light to rajparivaar and riyasat, but she seemed to have no choice, as divorce would end the thriving partnership between jaigad and devgad. She was already planning new projects and Udayveer seemed to be so perfect in handling business.

'But he is not so perfect for my daughter Rajmata', Komal cried as tears rolled from her eyes, it was the mother speaking ,the mother who saw her daughter dissipating day by day .'He is not my daughter's Mr. Perfact. Please Rajmata think of her as your granddaughter rather than a queen of your chess board'.

Rajmata Mrinalini was no idol herself, she too had emotions behind her tough exterior, the mother's plea did reach her heart. She knew Manyata deserved a better life. She had hoped things would go fine with time and were going well too but only on business front but personally both Udayveer and Manyata suffered the consequences of a loveless marriage.

'As you wish Maharani Komal, if you think divorce can bring happiness in Manyata's life so be it, but then what next do we have in store for Manyata after divorce' Rajmata asked as she really had no clue how to personally settle hew granddaughter's life.

Maharani Komal wiped her tears and was thankful at Rajmata's decision 'Rajmata, we have Akash ,he loves manayata and manyata loves him too,I have seen how much he cares for her, he is the best match for our Manyata' said Komal excited about her daughter's future and happiness who were all ready to knock her door again.

'As you wish Komal ',Rajmata sighed ,as she sank in her chair, her arms folded on her lap, the old lady knew she has to restart from scrap again. But then she did not feel angry instead she felt satisfied as now she was free from guilt of ruining her granddaughter life.

Maharani Komal called Mr. Khadwani the family lawyer of devgad and asked him to prepare divorce papers as soon as possible.

J did her best to play cupid for Manyata and Akash as she wanted her jiji to get betrothed to her first love Akash, not that she loved her jiji but because it was the only way to get what she lost to manayata 'the devgad riyasat. She knew once Manyata got engaged to a non rajwada Akash, she would have to leave the yuvrani pad of devgad. J knew she had lost Udayveer as he would never accept her but Devgad riyasat would be all hers very soon . Once Manayata got divorced from Udayveer and gets married to Akash , devgad riyasat would be hers forever. She knew how politically Dadi Sa had played by not divorcing Udayveer and Manyata because she always wanted Manyata to be the crown princess and wanted to have combined devgad jaigad riyasat. But now her way was clear as she knew Maharani Komal was all set to free her daughter from Udayveer tag, as now Manyata just needed to sign the divorce papers.

Manyata was in deep shock when Komal asked her to sign divorce papers and free herself from unwanted relationship with Udayveer. She did not know how to react as she had stopped thinking for herself and her relationship status since ages, that was what it seemed to her, ages! Free herself from Udayveer ,can she really free herself from Udayveer she thought, could a piece of divorce paper really bring back what she lost to Udayveer, could it bring back her sleep, her tranquillity ,her peace of mind, her carefree heart .No it could not she reflected. She had all lost herself to Udayveer but poor girl did not know when!

Tears rolled down her eyes as she looked at papers and then to her mother .Komal knew her daughter was in deep dilemma but then she didn't want her to waste her life for a man who never looked back and moved on.

Manyata felt nothing as she signed the papers no love, no pain, no remorse what she felt was a great emptiness inside her.

J knew she had to work out something fast as this time she did not want to loose or give any chance to Udayveer to win back Manyata again. But what she didn't know as she paced in her room trying to crack some knew plan.Bua ji, the lady who had no work but to enjoy and create arguments and catfights enjoyed seeing impatient J as she knew the girl was trying hard to cook something in her mind .So Bua ji decided to help.

'J why don't you give a birthday party at Udaveer's Hotel, after all it's a big day ,you are turning nineteen dear',Bua ji said trying to show happiness which more looked like a taunting smile.

J looked confused at Bua ji but instantly understood the logic and smirked. 'Wow Buaji that's a great idea! The only extension to it would be a surprise for my dear jiji as well' , J answered with a secretive smile, which left Bua ji confused. But J had suddenly got a master plan in her mind ,only she thought that she should implement it carefully.

J was on phone discussing her surprise for Manyata in her birthday party with Akash. Akash liked the idea and was excited about it. J promised herself that everybody would remember her nineteenth birthday party specially Manyata and Udayveer her two greatest enemies on earth.

J somehow convinced Manyata for the party as Manyata did not like social parties at all specially J's party. But it turned out to be a really hard task for J to convince Manyata for dressing in westerns.

'Come on jiji its my party please, please follow the dress code, I don't want Saleem's Anarkali roaming around in my trendy party', J pleaded like an innocent younger sister as J knew her loving didi behna sister act always melted Manyata. And so it did, Manyata by some means got ready to wear the dress offered by J which were actually the replica of one of the J's cleave reveling, backless and up the knee dress, that too red!

'What the hell J it's so cheap, I look like some some'.', Manyata searched for words.

'Hot and sexy by dress but cute by face babe' J completed as she put the pearl necklace around Manyata's neck which instantly added an elegance and sophistication to her beauty .

Manayata felt awkward as she felt half-dressed and the high heels made her more uncomfortable as she was used to wearing lucknowy mojri .Vijay Bhaiand Unnati were stunned to see manyata in this new avatar.

'So our J bhai has a clone too!' He exclaimed but Unnati really liked Manayata's new appearance and appreciated her for taking a break from her long frocks, that too with stockings and stole.

Manyata did not want to face the elders as she did not want to face any embarrassment by coming in front of them in such a cut piece dress. She requested J to drive to the venue as soon as possible

'God knows what surprise you have planned for me as you have already dressed me like some model on a ramp walk' , Manyata shrugged as she sat on the backseat of the car.

'Jiji please stop worrying', said J as she tried to sound soothing 'my party has a western theme so all will be dressed like u and me ,as for surprise, well jiji I promise, u will count my surprise as one of the happiest moments in your life.'

They reached the venue arguing all the way as these two sister seemed to disagree on everything they talked. The chauffer opened the door for the ladies Manyata was surprised to see that the venue was Udayveers hotel.

'What the hell !',Manyata exclaimed 'J what's this you have brought me to Uday's hotel that too in such a dress.'.

'Come on jiji it's a hotel not his home, he may be his owner but I have paid and booked it for my party tonight, so please stop making those faces' J explained as she gracefully made her way to the entrance.

Soon the two sisters were in the party with all eyes set on them, people congratulated the beautiful birthday girl J while many seemed to be inquisitive about the attractive and amiable lady on her side, as Manayata did try to act well hiding her discomfort to look like some sophisticated party animal ,but her beauty and gracious smile seemed to prompt people to give her a second look. J was soon busy with her friends and Manyata tried to find some lone corner to sooth her spirits.

But then she saw Akash he was there talking to his friends and came to Manyata as he saw her. His eyes seemed to get stuck on her as he marvelled at her new look. Mnayata again felt awkward ad scolded Akash for watching her like some item. Akash was really amused at Manayat's comment. But then he did comprehend her discomfort and decided to cheer her up.

He pulled her to the dance floor where couples were already dancing. Manayata was in no mood of dancing but then she did not want to dishearten Akash so she just followed his moves .Soon the music changed into a romantic one and the dance floor was darkened to follow the effect. Manyata really felt bad as Akash seemed to take her courteous moves in some other way which she actually did not want to. He gave her a twirl around but Manyata failed to balance as her heels slipped and she closed her eyes for an embarrassing fall. But she didn't instead she was caught by a strong arm and pulled.

Manyata slowly opened her eyes to see her beholder .It was dark but still she recognised that face so much, those black eyes seemed to burn into hers, his one arm was around her waist while other on her bare back .Her legs were pressed hard to his, while she still tightly held his tux .They both looked at each other lost ,unaware of their surroundings as their eyes seemed not to have enough of each ,it seemed years since they ever saw each other .Their trance was broken by a loud applause as the dance floor lighted. Akash pulled Manyata away from those arms as he hated to see Manyata in Udayveers arms. He regretted to Manyata for being so careless in handling her on dance floor. Manayata had no words as she still was not able to come out of Udayveers strange effect as her body still quivered as she thought of him.

J came to Mnayata and said 'I think jiji its time to give you the surprise I promised you'. But Manyata seemed to be in no mood of taking any more surprises. 'No more of your chavanni chaap surprises J, first you got me into this uncomfortable dress mess , then into party at uday's hotel and ,and you kamini you even invited Udayveer into the party', she frowned and walked away to leave but Akash stopped her.

'Just wait for one last thing and I know after that you will be the happiest', smiled Akash making Manyata lconfused. He announced for the attention and took Manayata to the centre stage. Manayata stood there clueless ,with people staring at her and then came her surprise as Akash bent to his knees and proposed her. Everybody in hall applauded for Akash and there she stood dumbstruck, if only she would have known this , than she would have stopped Akash from doing such blunder. Manayata was not at all prepared for any new engagement though she did promise to move on but not so quickly and J made it worst by planning such a surprise in haste.

Manayata did not know how to react ,she knew her rejection would humiliate Akash and her acceptance would be a lie to herself .She kept quit and smiled as she looked at Akash and people around. But then her smile vanished as she saw Udayveer who stood there by the bar glaring at her, as he gulped his drink. Her eyes followed him as she saw him smashing the glass away and furiously going upstairs to his room.

'Come jiji lets celebrate', J said as she cheered the glass of wine in name of Manayata's new life. 'Move on jiji Move on !'

'You want me to celebrate this mess. The mess you created for me in form of so called surprise', Manyata snorted angrily as she twisted J's hand angrily.

'What jiji, love of your life just proposed you and you call it mess. Come on jiji you should thank me for bringing such a great day in your life that too in my birthday party', J retorted as she freed her hands and reached for another fill.

'Jiji' J said as she sipped her drink'I know your heart is still throbbing for that Udayveer,but do u think he really cares for you. Whom are u celebrating for jiji ?Whom? For a man who has a new girl on his side every second day'.

Manayata knew not what to say as every word of J was true, she was waiting for Udayveer who existed no more, as she herself killed her lover uday. J forwarded the glass to Manyata and whispered 'Have it jiji ,come join me, this alcohol has great power you see, it gives immense strength to forgive and forget ,to start and end, to express and amend.'

Manyata at last decided to follow J as she felt no problem for getting drunk for one day. Specially when it was so special, J's birthday and surprise propose by Akash. She did want to get drunk but not at all for happy reasons. She actually just wanted to forget the embarrassment and unwanted decision she took due to surprise proposal by Akash. She just wanted to forget what she did just now. So both sisters cheered the glass and Manata finished her in just one go and then another and another, surprising J who tried to stop Manayata as she knew Manyata was not used to such heavy drinking. But Manyata just wanted to forget herself, she wanted to forget everything that happed.

Manyata was already drunk and now she needed a washroom , as she wanted to throw up .J tried to help but Manyata managed it for herself. She staggered through the corridor towards the ladies washroom. She tried to walk back to the party after she was done, but then she didn't coz alcohol in her seemed to give her better ideas. She remembered how Udayveer had walked out of the party as Akash proposed her. But then why did he walk out, he had already moved on in his life and now she was trying to do the same then why, why did he walk out .No that was a bad gesture Yuvraj Udayveer a very bad gesture she thought with her hazy mind. I will make u know that I have really moved on and I am damn happy about it.

Manyata asked about Udayveer at reception. The receptionist informed that Sir was relaxing in his room and does not want to be disturbed. So he is relaxing with one of his babes she thought, 'so what give me the keys', she ordered the receptionist.

'Maam I can't ',the receptionist said meekly. Manyata was irritated at this and yelled 'Don't u know who I am , I am Manayata Udayveer Singh legal wife of your Sir ,now give me the keys'.

The receptionist was terrified to see Yuvrani Manyata in such mood, as she always knew her to be soft spoken and quit. She hurriedly handed her the keys. Manyata grabbed the keys and walked away. She knew Udayweer's room, as it was always reserved for him the boss. Manayata unsteadily walked upstairs to Udayveer's room ,she did not care to knock as she opened it with key .The room was dimly lit ,she heard a soft music playing but saw nobody around .

'Yuvraaj Udayveer Singh', she yelled at top of her voice as she slammed the door behind. The alcohol seemed to have given Manayta some extra powers, some extra courage to speak her mind. There she stood strong willed ready to face Udayveer right into his eyes with shaking body and unsteady gaze .
