An umbrella body of 21 medical institutions Wednesday asked Bollywood star Aamir Khan to apologize for accusing doctors of malpractices in his TV talk show Satyamev Jayate.

Medscape India said the representation of malpractices supposedly perpetrated by doctors was "rather sad" and Aamir Khan should offer his apologies.

"It is rather sad that doctors should be made the object of such shameless, unilateral scrutiny," Himanshu Mehta, co-founder and advisor to Medscape India, said.

After highlighting social issues affecting Indian society, Aamir Khan, in the fourth episode of his show, turned the spotlight on healthcare and malpractices in the medical profession.

He highlighted unethical practices, corruption and scandalous revelations in medical treatment.

"Aamir Khan is my favourite actor and he should stick to making films," said another doctor, Sunita Dube, president of Medscape.

"Surprisingly, no doctors' body has spoken against Aamir yet. We need to stand united against such blatant lies. We are going to write a scathing letter demanding an apology from him," Dube said.

Medscape pointed out that doctors were subjected to assault without any fault and many people didn't understand the pressures of the profession.

"Where is Aamir Khan when doctors are assaulted? Where is he when we give free treatment to the needy?" asked Kishore Taori, president of the Maharashtra Medical Council that is associated with Medscape.

The time they took for protesting against the show could be utilized to treat patients and save someone's life.👎🏼SJ highlighted the malpractices in this field in India but also showed a ray of hope by introducing Dr.Devi Shetty and the IAS officer from Rajasthan. The episode remains to be my most favourite till now for giving a slap on the face of the profession which has now become just a business. If someone has to apologize,it has to be the MCI Chief for not confiscating the license of the doctors responsible for operating on the women mercilessly and taking away their uterus in Andhra Pradesh.

APOLOGY !!!

So many cases werent shown which happen daily in a country like india.

I know more than two cases where people were murdered cause of an irresponsible doctor.

AIIMS, india's most sought after hospital for supposed doctors, and there arent enough beds in the hospital. more than once a pregnant woman has given birth on the pavement! they want an apology!!??

A celebrity is always wrong in the eyes of the public...be it Aamir Khan vs the doctors or Shahrukh vs Wankhede assholes...if the victim is the weaker party they will always cry FOUL...no surprises here...
Just a line for Aamir...No good deed goes unpunished...but keep up with the good work...India needs it👍🏼

This time I support Aamir. Unscrupulous doctors fleece patients on a daily basis. This is was something which touches everyone's lives whether rich or poor. The kudos to those docs who came out and spoke against their own breed which any other professional would rarely do. I am sure the protesting docs must be asked some tough questions hence the backlash against Aamir.
