Exclusive tete-a-tete with Drashti Dhami
22 May 2012
Drashti Dhami has beautiful and mysterious eyes which hold thousand unsaid words and emotions. This super talented actress stabbed hearts as Geet in Star One's Geet - Hui Sabse Parayi. Her chemistry with Gurmeet Choudhary became a rage across the globe.
Now, she is coming back to enchant viewers as Madhubala in Colors' upcoming show, Madhubala- Ek Ishq Ek Junoon which will hit the airwaves from 28 May 2012. She will pair opposite Vivian Dsena. The show is being produced by Nautanki Films.
Madhubala is a girl who is born and brought up in the city of dreams (Mumbai) amidst a filmy ambience. She is a simple girl who will gain great heights of popularity and stardom. "Madhubala is not a very ambitious girl and she does not crave for fame. She just wants to stay with her loved ones," says Drashti to Tellychakkar.com.
She continues, "I will be seen carrying a very simple look as per the demands of the character. I will wear very less make-up. I will be seen wearing only kajal."
So how different is Madhubala from Geet? "Very much. Madhubala is mature and calm whereas Geet was very bubbly. Moreover, as Geet I used to say oye and thoudi, so I have to get rid of the habit. I am also working on my body language."
She is beautiful, so no doubt she might be showered with compliments. Any special incident she wants to share with us? "While I was doing Geet, the show's cameraman said that when he looks through the lens and shut his left eye, he falls in love with the image that he sees in the viewfinder. It was indeed a great compliment."
So is she like Madhubala in real life? "Madhubala doesn't want to be famous but I always wanted to become an actress. No one from my family belongs to the entertainment industry. Hence, when I decided to enter the field of acting, everyone started calling me to check if I was sure about my decision. My first break was a music video where I danced on the song Saiyan Dil Mein Aana Re. Since then my family has been very supportive."
And Drashti is not the only star in the house. Her sister-in-law, Suhasi Dhami seen in Yahaan Mein Ghar Ghar Kheli (Zee TV), is also a big name now in the world of television. "Suhasi entered a lot later. By then everyone had already gotten used to the idea of stardom. It was tough for me actually."
Finally, what about her chemistry with Vivian? "We haven't shot together much yet, however Vivian is a nice guy and I am sure we will hit it off well," she ends with a beaming smile.
Drashti Dhami "wants to have a good friendship" with Vivian Dsena
12 May 2012
Drashti Dhami is all set to portray the simple girl Madhubala who climbs the ladder of success as a film star in Nautanki Films' upcoming show Madhubala… Ek Ishq Ek Junoon (Colors). After portraying the character Geet in Star One's Geet Hui Sabse Parayi, Drashti is looking forward to her next role with optimism.
"You don't get shows on the film fraternity on television. This is a concept which is never done before on TV, and that is the reason I took it. I did not want to do the typical saas bahu roles, and a show focusing on the harsh reality of the film fraternity is a runaway change from the usual stuff," shares Drashti with Tellychakkar.com.
Ask her about her chemistry with co-actor, Vivian Dsena and she says, "I really do not know why everyone speaks about the chemistry exhibited by the lead actors always. All should be concerned about the character I play, and not the chemistry I have with the lead actor. As for me, I would only want to speak about my character. The other things will be taken care of by the director and cameraman. We have not begun to shoot yet, so I cannot talk much about my role."
On doing smooch sequences with her co-actors on television, Drashti avers, "Frankly speaking, I have my limitations when it comes to choosing the attires I wear and the scenes I do. I will not be comfortable doing a very close (intimate) sequence on screen. But all will depend on the demand of the scene and my frame of mind then. I would want to take one day at a time, and not think about the future."
On her preparations to play the versatile actor Madhubala, Drashti states, "This is not a story on Madhubala. It is a story which is influenced by the film fraternity and not anyone in particular."
On her expectations when it comes to her co-star Vivian Dsena she shares, "I want to have a good friendship with him, to begin with. I know him personally, so all should be fine."
Talking about life after Geet, Drashti tells, "I was chilling out with friends. Most of my friends got married, so that kept me busy. I had been to Goa and Dubai, where I shopped a lot. I cooked a lot and slept to my heart's content."
Lastly, acknowledging the huge support she has got from her fans, she says, "I was really taken aback when I saw the huge response for my new show. The eagerness with which my fans are waiting for my comeback makes me feel special. I thank them for all the support; all I want to say is that I am back, and I would give my 100% to my work."
Tellychakkar.com wishes you all the very best, Drashti…
