For the past three weeks, we have been given nothing but bits and pieces of Arjun-Purvi. Like giving bait to fishes .. and speaking for myself, I do know its a bait, yet I swim to it and find nothing but shreds of broken ARVI dreams.
Until yesterday there was nothing on arvi in sbs also. For the past three weeks, Arjun-Purvi have been separated under horrible circumstances, Ovi has been shown engaging in full-on PDA with AK. And he does not seem to mind it at all. He has been super nice to Ovi (Like Darlyne said in another post). And we as die-hard ARVI fans come here to the forum in the hopes of finding some happiness or hope from each other. I am grateful to the forum members because it would have been very tough to handle the past three weeks without you all.
Three damn weeks, I have waited to see a ray of hope on TV, videos on PR online. Nothing, just nothing. I just heard RD's interview yesterday where he said ARVI would come together very soon. But how soon is soon? He also said, the script is not in his hands. But even if they come together, will they show us the kind of beautiful arvi love they used to show before? I don't think so. With so many people like Savita, Ovi ready to pounce on Arvi, will it ever be the same?😕
What crap is the PR writers team planning now in the name of Arjun-Purvi-Ovi?
More paper dancing between AK-Ovi? 😡
Please keep Ovi in Goa! for two-three weeks atleast!
In her other serial Ekta is showing a five year leap and the hero is married to the heroine's younger sister. Ram married to Ayesha. I used to follow this before and had never imagined that such a thing would ever happen, but it has.😡 What the crap. I hope she does not do the same to PR.. am fearful of this. For TRPs they will do anything, and mostly turn to more negativity. I can't imagine how negativity will bring in TRPs. 😕

Dear Trish,

The poetic streak in this heartfelt post is quite striking: "
yet I swim to it and find nothing but shreds of broken ARVI dreams". Lovely, my dear.

As for BALH, which is one of the just 3 serials I watch (the others being PR and Afsar Bitiya), if this is really what is going to happen, it is good, for I can then give up BALH with no qualms. In any case, I never has the kind of genuine attachment that I have for Arjun-Purvi
for the lead pair of BALH. They were generally good, that is about all.

So I must start looking about for a replacement third serial. Any recommendations? Only condition is that there must be NO focus on the saas-bahu angle. I do NOT like eternally overdressed women with zari sarees even in the kitchen,, 20 bangles on each arm and backless cholis day in and day out, who seem to do nothing but merely exist, or to plot and scheme against one another, or else stare blankly no matter WHAT the scene demands, like the heroine in Punar Vivah.

That is what I admire about Purvi, she looks like a real person, a capable intelligent woman professional without any sartorial excesses to disfigure her neat as a pin looks.

No Vivahs of any kind for me. Trish, and anyone else who feels like it, do offer your considered recommendations!

Dear Shyamala,

Thank you for the compliment.😊

There is nothing to match Arjun-Purvi magic on Indian TV right now.

I agree, Purvi does look like a real person. I don't think she is breathtakingly beautiful or anything like that, but there is a charm about her simplicity and intelligence which is highly refreshing (and she is so elegant), and does take one away from this maddening flurry of flamboyant telly queens who wear makeup to sleep! and thick layers of eye-mascara!

Ovi is also cute and has a lovely complexion, but she does not create that magic with Arjun. I sometimes wonder why?

I have tried Ek hazaaron mein meri behna hai on star, it seems good. It is a story about sisterly love and myriad of problems they face.

There is another serial on sony -- Shubh Vivah .. it is a story about domestic violence .. I won't say it is great or anything close, but I like it for the heroine's cracker of a younger sister and the hero's (Who is a villain really) compassionate younger brother. I like their pairing. I don't watch it regularly though because it is a bit too loud at times. But the second pairing is kind of sweet. ( I am not recommending it but you could try watch a couple of episodes.)

There is a new hero in Ballika Badhu .. he looks interesting, not sure how the story is progressing though. Might be worth a look.
I also watch Kid Nation.😊
I am however, now returning to books and picked up a book by Joyce Carol Oats.

Dear Trish,

Thanks for the suggestions.

I do not disagree with you very often, but Ovi is most emphatically NOT cute. I don't know about her complexion, but she needs a great deal more of nose, and her mouth is much too large and the bright red lipstick makes it look even larger. Plus she has an infinite number of bad angles, and the cinematographer of PR has NO idea how to camouflage them. Do you remember how she looked in the car episode when she is asking Purvi about a possible boyfriend? It was a MOST unflattering close-up; she looked frightful. You know, they used to say of Waheeda Rehman that she had NO bad angles and was thus a photographer's delight. Ovi is the exact opposite. Why could they not have picked someone a little prettier, even if she does have to be dumb-looking?

A couple of overdue comments about BALH and the five year leap (is it really true?).What is it with Ekta's female characters that in 2010-2012, they still end up with unwanted pregnancies? And all of them educated and presumably sensible girls. First Shravani, then Natasha is BALH (unbelievable in a fashion world celebrity), and now
Ayesha! EK seems to have a Silsila fixation. I never understood why Shravani's kid could not have been adopted legally by Manav and Archana, without Manav having to go thru the rigmarole of a marriage a la Amitabh in Silsila. Same now for Ayesha. It makes one want to burst into hysterical giggles - this 'main ma bannewali hoon' syndrome in a girl who is supposed to have all the sanskaar of Priya's family.

Talking of appeal, one problem with BALH is that the main leads are not goodlooking at all, even if they are competent actors. There is a great deal too much of Ram Kapoor, and even if his being overweight is treated as a plot device, one does get tired of watching him waddle around. As for Priya, one does want a certain modicum of looks in the female lead, even if not great beauty, which is in any case quite rare. Then again, Priya goes about with the most unsuitable backless cholis - unlike Archana, she does NOT have the kind of back that can take so much exposure. We end up having to endure these unaesthetic sights every single day!

I cannot imagine how they are going to explain why Ram is marrying that stupid Ayesha (who has one of the most wooden faces ever) to give legitimacy to her and Sid's baby. Why not have him and Priya adopt it? And what about the 'mature love story'? So, all said and done, I am rather glad to have an excuse for abandoning BALH.

As for my third serial, I think that I shall give Phir Subah Hogi a try (at least the setting is rural and the costumes are not outlandish and there are at least 2 good actors, Varun and Narayani), and if not, I shall just go back to DEK.

I had abandoned DEK when Maanyata was trying to get her Dadi Saaheb arrested for the murder of Aakash. I do not know how the old lady got out of that; it must have been a cakewalk against such a foolish and unsupported accusation, and I think Uday also went in and out of jail, but I missed all of that.

However, in the last 2 episodes that I did watch to refresh my memories of him wrt Purvi, I saw that he is back in fine fettle. I really cannot stand either that Jai (with one eye half the size of the other and next to no clothes on) or Maanyata, who is a well fed Punjabi kudi with a lovely smile (that seems to have been misplaced these days) and hardly any other expression. When she tries to project either anger or sorrow she is awful to behold.

So, it will be mostly just for Uday, plus the Akash lookalike who has suddenly turned up and who has more attitude even than Uday, and his charming, unaffected Tara. I was quite taken with the way he hugs her and says"My love!" Arjun should go to him for some coaching in saying something other than "Mujhe samajhne ki koshish karo!"

Shyamala

PS: Incidentally, I saw a piece in the ToI today that Shubh Vivah was going off the air in June, which would rule it out, apart from the fact that I am getting allergic to any and all Vivahs.

Dear Shyamala
Mujhe samajhne ki koshish karo!🤣
Your post is damn funny! especially your description of Ovi and how she is not a cameraperson's delight or first choice and she does not look like a model. A print model, maybe.
There is an article on BALH in the PR forum -- I think it came out yestday or the day before. It is mentioned there, the leap and ram's marriage to ayesha. You are right about a lot of things you mentioned of Ram and Priya. 😊
I've also mentioned Ballika Badhu in my earlier post, because there is a new hero there now. However, I don't really know how it is overall.
Phir subah hogi is good though. 😊

Thanks a lot my dear. I shall give Balika Vadhu a try. I remember asking you for your actual name, as your id is quite complicated. Do you think I could have it?
