Actor Arshad Warsi is an avid John Abraham fan. "T think every mother should have a son like John. He is so honest and forthright. He has all the qualities of a good friend. The duo have just completed Kabir Khan's Kabul Express. "The film is about Kabir Khan's experience in Afghanistan. The ordeals he had to go through. Just as Apoorva Lakhia began filming Shootout At Lokhandwla, one of the lead players has opted to walk out of the film. Arjun Rampal required a makeover to suit the character he was playing and this included cutting his long hair short. However, the actor refused to do so and chose to opt out of the project. The cast now comprises Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Viviek Oberoi, Rohit Roy and Shabbir Ahluwalia. | | | | | | | | Rahman takes Bollywood to Hollywood - and rocks By IANS Jul 20, 2006, 09:23
|
| | LOS ANGELES : Hollywood studios like Warner Bros, Fox and Universal were so impressed by a recent A.R. Rahman concert at the famous Hollywood Bowl that they may be actually contemplating giving a Bollywood touch to the next Oscars night. "The American audience was completely blown away by the show. They had never seen anything like it. Many Americans came dressed in Indian outfits and danced enthusiastically. People were saying 'move over Britney Spears and J-Lo, Bollywood rocks'," said Sheeraz Hasan. Hasan attended the concert Sunday with his friends from Warner Bros, Fox and Universal Studios and said they were totally bowled over. There were more American fans (70 percent) than Asians (30 percent) to hear the music maestro at the show titled "Bollywood Night with A.R. Rahman", organised by the KCRW World Festival at Hollywood Bowl on Sunday here, said a press release. Tom Schnabel, who is the programme director of World Music, hosted the show. Rahman opened the show by telling the audience: "When I left Chennai for London several years ago to work on the musical 'Bombay Dreams', everyone congratulated me for going to Hollywood. I tried to explain that I was going to London, not Hollywood, but they didn't understand. So those people who misinterpreted London for Hollywood, would be very happy to see me here today." Several Indian artistes have performed here in the past, but this was Hollywood Bowl's first night completely dedicated to the music and culture of India. The Rahman extravaganza with its arsenal of instruments, synthesisers, guitars, dholaks, keyboards and inspired singing transcended musical boundaries. Other artistes like Sukhwinder Singh, Hariharan, Sadhana Sargam, Madhushree, Musafir and Anisha Nagarajan performed along with Rahman. The most popular song of the evening was "Chaiyya chaiyya" performed by Sukhvinder Singh. "Popular entertainers, including Cher, Frank Sinatra, the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Judy Garland and Jimi Hendrix, have all performed at the Hollywood Bowl in the past, and it was truly a historic night as Bollywood came to Hollywood in great style," said Hasan. | | Copyright 2006 by MusicIndiaOnLine.com | Shah Rukh's love for Bollywood classics! | | Shah Rukh Khan seems to be on a remake fling. After playing Dilip Kumar in 'Devdas' and Amitabh Bachchan in 'Don' he is out to slip on the role of Rishi Kapoor in the remake of 'Karz' titled 'Om Shanti Om'. This is choreographer-turned-filmmaker Farah Khan's forthcoming venture and has been is loosely inspired from Subhash Ghai's blockbuster 'Karz'. The film pairs Shah Rukh Khan opposite newcomer Deepika Padukone. Shah Rukh after 'Karan Arjun' sets in once again to do this film on reincarnation and was very excited about the film when Farah said that she intended to make a film on the lines of 'Karz'. Assumingly Shah Rukh plays the role of Rishi Kapoor and Deepika Padukone will play Tina Munim. Another highlight of the enterprise is that it will have the feeling of a 1980s Bollywood film and will be a musical. Shah Rukh will be playing double role enacting the part of both Raj Kiran and Rishi Kapoor from the original. He will play Om, his love interest is Shanti and is reborn again as Om. 'Om Shanti Om' is also the chartbuster song of the film. Farah is working on the script now and plans to start another film 'Happy New Year' later. Hunt is on for the role of Simi Garewal and Sushmita Sen is being considered for it. Farah Khan doesn't divulge further details but says that Shah Rukh Khan is surely in it. | | Copyright 2006 by MusicIndiaOnLine.com
| It's style that impresses! By MIO Team Jul 19, 2006, 21:08
|
| | One striking point that differs the films of Sanjay Dutt and his friend filmmaker Sanjay Gupta is stylized filmmaking. Not only in screen, in everything they do, they leave their mark of style and panache. One such driven act was when a heartfelt gesture of their lead actors in their forthcoming 'Dus Kahaniyan' emotionally moved them. The film is unique for its amalgamation of ten stories. Playing the main part in the enterprise are Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, Suniel Shetty, Nana Patekar, Dino Morea, Jimmy Sheirgill, Aftab Shivdasani, Arbaaz Khan, Abhay Deol, Manoj Bajpai, Vidya Balan, Dia Mirza, Soha Ali Khan, Mandira Bedi, Neha Dhupia, Amrita Singh and Perizaad Zorabian. Now these actors were so much excited and thrilled with the script and the opportunity of working with Sanjay Dutt and Gupta that they refused their remuneration. When the producers insisted they said them to donate it to charitable organization. Gupta says that he is very happy that actors of such caliber agreed to do the film just because they liked the project and believed in them. They expressed their gratitude by giving each one of them a gift. Sources reveal that the gift ranges from expensive watches to cars. | | Copyright 2006 by MusicIndiaOnLine.com | John playing DJ in KANK By MIO Team Jul 19, 2006, 21:08

| | Producer Aditya Chopra is striving to outdo the stunts of 'Krrish'. To change his plans into action he has taken the aid of Hollywood stunts experts to rework on the stunts of 'Dhoom 2'. Action director Alin Amin was signed initially but now he has signed a few Hollywood professionals to take care of the action. After seeing the action sequences of 'Krrish' he was so much impressed that he decided to rework on the action. After instructing Aishwarya to get in shape, he has now asked Hrithik Roshan to rework his stunt scenes. We never knew Adi was such a hard taskmaster! Hrithik is doing a negative role and is sporting a different look in the film and is working for 18 hours a day to complete the film. He will do some stunning action sequences, which will create history in Bollywood cinema without the aid of body doubles. Directed by Sanjay Gadhvi the film is currently shooting in Namibia. |
| | In 'Yun Hota To Kya Hota' the first directorial debut of Naseeruddin Shah releasing this Friday, Irrfan Khan will be romancing an aged lady Suhasini Mulay. She plays an older woman who attracts a much younger man Irrfan and he falls in love with her. He plays a stockbroker in his 40s completely smitten by an older woman. But are the audiences ready to accept the generation-challenged romances? "Why not? Hindi cinema is maturing and it's wonderful to be part of a film like Yun Hota To Kya Hota. I play a man looking for a mother figure in his relationship. My character adores the woman to the point of worship. She's very classy and I'm nothing but a diversion for her. She'd happily make love to another man if she found someone more interesting," cuts in Irrfan saying. "Suhasini and I share a very important lovemaking scene, a part of which has been edited in the final cut. The scene combines food and sex. I'm about to kiss her when she says she's hungry. We then go into this sensuous culinary mood, which ends with me putting two ice-cream cones on her knees, almost like boobs on the leg. It's bizarre, yet fascinating. I've never done anything like this before. It's definitely a departure from the way man-woman relationships are depicted in films these days. Naseer has made such a fine film. Everyone from Konkona to Boman has given a fine performance." However he doesn't have much to do in the film as most of his portions have been edited for the sake of the film. Irrfan Khan's another release this Friday is 'The Killer' with Emraan Hashmi and Nisha Kothari. | | Copyright 2006 by MusicIndiaOnLine.com | Shah Rukh singing Don's evergreen song By MIO Team Jul 19, 2006, 21:08

| After 'Josh' Shah Rukh is once again training his vocals. For the remake of Farhan Akhtar's 'Don – The Chase Begins' he is behind the mike once again to render and revive the evergreen track 'Khaike Paan Banaras walla' immortalized by Amitabh Bachchan. He is going to sing a couple of lines from the song comprising the opening lines and some interludes. Otherwise the whole song will be rendered by Udit Narayan. Shah Rukh's chipping in his bit of vocals will definitely make it more interesting. Music composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have reworked this original track.

| Is Vinod Khanna taking Risk? By MIO Team Jul 19, 2006, 21:08
|
| | Well he is! I mean to say that he has opted to play an important role in the film titled 'Risk'. Randeep Hooda will essay the protagonist in the film. Vinod Khanna plays the antagonist in this Vishram Sawant's flick. If you can remember he made his entry to filmdom with the role of a villain in Raj Khosla's 'Mera Gaon Mera Desh' and have donned the part of a villain in many films of the 70s. Life has come a full circle for him. Vishram and Randeep established a great rapport while making 'D' and they are now no more associated with The Factory. They come again together for 'Risk' but this time without the need of RGV to produce the film. Randeep will play the role of cop here. | | Copyright 2006 by MusicIndiaOnLine.com

But it was not a surprise party of sorts as she was well aware of his plans. | Rocky' release gets postponed By MIO Team Jul 19, 2006, 21:08
|
| Zayed Khan starrer 'Rocky' was initially slated for August 4 release, but now has been shifted ahead by two weeks and will be released on August 18. Producer Shyam Bajaj says that he didn't wanted his film to clash with the biggies lined up for release and do stale business. Sanjay Dutt and Arshad starrer 'Anthony Kaun Hai' and Salman Khan's 'Shaadi Karke Phas Gaya Yaar' are slated to release on August 4. On August 11 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' is releasing. No major release is so far confirmed for August 18 and this would help him to avoid competition. So playing safe he decided to shift the film ahead. | | Copyright 2006 by MusicIndiaOnLine.com |
