Why are skeptics given better treatment than fans?

Scenario 1:

Incessant bashing of Celeb X,Y,Z is deemed perfectly acceptable and even encouraged. Members can indulge in as much bashing, mocking, ridiculing without any bullying, prejudice, or pressure from fellow IFers.

Fair enough.

Scenario 2:

Posts in defense of celebrities, no matter how respectful or logical, are met with contempt, disdain, and ridicule. Even if defense is incessant, the treatment towards fans is more often than not, degrading and demeaning.

Discuss.

But I'm saying, without any provocation, the fans's post in question is centered completely on CELEBRITY at hand, but that incites member X,Y,Z to groan/moan/complain why the fan has to defend that celebrity.

Is that not the same as cynics bashing celebrities?

Basically, what I'm trying to wrap my head around is the thought that offense ok, but defense is not. Correct?

People enjoy criticism more than appreciation when it comes to others.Not to forget,the one who gives better treatment to the cynic does not like the actor being criticized most of the times.

I don't have to take names,the pattern is always like that and expected.

BS member A doesn't like Actor A.
BS member B criticizes Actor A
BS member A applauds for what BS member B has done and supports him/her.

Think you nailed it Dex, its the lack of balance that's upsetting IF.

My avie is actually symbolic of what happens to a member when IF really screws you over 😆

.SB, that too, but in general, that's pretty consistant with fans as well.

BS member A likes celeb X.

BS member B praises celeb X

BS member A supports him/her.

But the treatment towards fans in general is ridiculous nowadays. I dont know about others, but as a fan, I certainly feel targetted.

This is the thing. Member A likes actors A and B. And most of the times, s/he is cynical of actors from C-Z.

So that way, apart from the regular cynics, the fans in turn, turn cynics of celebs that are not their favourites.

The fan will have a fight with the regular cynic over his/her fav actor. But the same fan will happily unite with the cynic in bashing an actor s/he doesn't like... which creates an imbalance between fans and cynics.

The only way this can change is when fans of a certain actor stand up against bullying against fans of other actors as well.

Most of the fans are biased thats a given and why shouldn't they be its their choice and thats the reason why they are a "fan" in the first place. So i dont see why the skeptics should question them ? How often do we see a fan being cynical about their own favorite..hardly ever! It would be a shocker if they do.. definitely not expected though.. But it really doesnt bother me whether its a cynic doing thr job or a fan going gaga over thr faves.

I'm more than aware of my vulnerability as a fan, so I try to refrain from bashing other celebrities coz I know I'm a fan as well.

What's that saying again? People who live in glass houses shouldnt throw stones? 😆

Yup, I did indulge in some celeb bashing, but not so much against the celeb, as much as its against some members who piss me off. So just to give em a taste of their own medicine kinda thing

I don't think celeb bashing is bad.Personally I really don't know what is the meaning of the word 'bashing' on India-forums.It changes from one forum to another.But the cynics.should restrict the criticism to the actor and not the fan.But trust me,this site is filled with fanatics and not fans who can like do anything if you say one bad word against their favorites.So maybe that's why cynics bash the fans along with their favorite actors and then fans bash the cynics back and the chain continues.😆
