Manju is a complete diamond in the rough. She was the shining beacon of hope in today's episode because the whole time people were worried about Ansh, I knew that he would be ok because she was with him. I hope they show her being instrumental in his rescue and recovery to his parents because she deserves to win this battle for humanity and this battle with her good for nothing husband. You know what is interesting? If they made a spin off of this show with Manju as the lead, I would totally watch it, so much power and depth have they infused into this character. Even her husband was a piece of work.
They addressed so many issues in this, when they could have just gotten Ansh kidnapped by some gundas and called it a day, like they do on most shows. But they are actually using this to address and comment upon issues like domestic abuse, unemployed husbands who live off their wives' income, people who want to take the short cut to becoming rich and finally, that a hero can be just about anyone, depending on the circumstances.
I am not too worried about Ansh because the the guy does not really have the guts to harm the child, I think. He is just looking for a short cut in life. His amateur demand of 10 crores, which is just plain far fetched and conveniently round, should have given him away as an amateur to the police at the very least. Manju was wonderful! She mirrors Aarti in many ways. She has so much love to give and yet she is saddled with this awful man who cannot think beyond money, despite the fact that he doesn't earn any himself. Poor people have their own set of prejudices which are often forgiven because they are poor, and one of them is that rich people don't work hard for their money, that money is something that has no weight for them. This is why his demand was so vast, he thinks that 10 crores is nothing for the Scindias when in fact it is their hard earned money.
OMG! The performances of the leads today was something else! I think the first half of the episode belonged to GC and the second half was completely swept away by KS, with both of them supporting each other perfectly. I just could not get enough of Yash's bloodshot eyes as they focused in anger on the scene beyond the open door as Aarti sobbed her heart out next to him. He was strong for her today because despite all her resilience she was crumbling from inside and getting more and more frantic. He was just as worried but he held it together for her, because she and Ansh needed him to do that. His crestfallen expression when he got that call from Pankaj, the realisation that he would have to tell Aarti...all so subtle and yet so distinct. And I loved Aarti's resistance. She is not taking any orders from this man any more and so he was forced to tell her the truth, right there in the middle of the street, on HER terms. This is what this experience is going to help Yash with, letting go of his terms and conditions and learning to work for others. And as though physically manifesting what he had been all day, he was there to catch her when she fell.
The scene with Vidhi was so natural and stirring. I feel it is natural when this happens for a mother to thank god that it wasn't her children. I know it doesn't sound selfless but it is real. And her next thought was for Aarti. I loved the little touch that in private, in her heart and mind, she calls her Aarti though she may say Arpita in public to appease the elders. (aside: VV seem like nice kids. It woule be cute to see Vedant take Ansh under his wing and give him advice on how to handle dadi's punishments š).
Prateek finally has it out and Paridhi is shell shocked! I felt kind of bad for her because, it was just an unfortunate turn of events. The same way we can't really blame Yash for what happened with Ansh, we can't blame Paridhi for what happened today (loving these parallels by the way) because the foundation was always being built, by both Prateek and Paridhi. In their bid to impress each other, they forgave each other things that would cause problems later. She should have answered his calls but how was she to know it wasn't what she thought, more begging that she talk about his mother? I mean I was mad about that. When she came up with the excuse, he is hiding under it. How is that fair when he promised it was totally cool for her to work after they got married? So as much as Paridhi was wrong, I felt for her, because in all honesty she didn't mean it and what happened was an unfortunate co-incidence that the one day she decided not to pick up Prateek's call was this day.
Finally, ah, Aarti in that last scene was fantabulous! Three cheers for KS, take a bow, milady! Aarti's trust issues came to the fore once again and she hated being told by one more person to trust and wait...which is what got her into this mess in the first place, according to her. And she had a point, she and Yash heard Ansh's voice, were just separated by a door for a few moments there and so I can understand why she feels that she can do a better job than the police. But what I LOVED and I mean LOVED about this scene was how cohesive Yash and Aarti were as a unit. When she was blasting off, I saw surprise yes but more helplessness from Yash. He didn't stop her because he didn't want to stop her. He understood what she was saying. And she even quietened down when he assured her that the commissioner would find Ansh. And I love how whatever Aarti said in her pain, Yash sort of balanced it with what he said to the commissioner. He showed the faith that Aarti couldn't at this moment. He completed her.
And she was triggered off once again by the idea of anything happening to Ansh, which is unthinkable for her right now. So while Yash speaks practically, Aarti speaks poetically. Nothing has changed except that now he understands her, he understands the very real feelings these poetic, abstract statements come from and I don't think he will ever be able to discount them again.
Precap: We have plenty to discuss until Monday rolls around! I guess Yash was overusing the bharosa word (story wise) for Aarti to be able to lash out at him just like this. I just love the combination of dialogues in the last scene. I love how she tells him straight why she cannot trust him right now, he broke her trust. So she says, please don't ask of me something that I cannot give. Just find my son and bring him back to me! I am glad this confrontation is happening before Ansh gets back, that way Aarti will have an entirely new perspective on it when Ansh is safe.
