@Barunrox...Ifirst of all, I hv to disagree that having less dialogues mean its not an important role! In fact, I think its just the opposite. It takes much more talent and skill to portray a character like Yash. Gurmeet is such a subtle and terrific actor that he makes Yash's silences speak! and I am sure thats the reason he accepted this role. The guy knows more about acting than most of us in the forum-believe me! Why do I say so? well, simply becoz he is such a terrific actor, and has been in this proffession for many years now.
So, I agree with what Samana said ...Let Gurmeet decide what is good for him and what isn't.
second, the hair pin sequence- I don't know why u felt it was dumb, but I enjoyed Gurmeet's acting in those two episodes to the core, as did all of us! He was terrific. What fabulous comic timing! Nothing OTT, so subtle, yet so funny- my mom and I couldn't stop laughing!
and if u r saying that the sequence was humiliating, etc for Gurmeet, well, in that case making a hero take off his shirt, or making a heroine wear a skimpy dress is equally humiliating in my opinion. But Hasn't Gurmeet taken off his shirt in GHSP uncountable no of times as well? I didn't feel it odd then, i don't feel odd with the hair pin now.
And finally, since u said that as an audience its clear which role is better,I don't think its right to generalize! I am also an audience, so is my mom.In fact my mom represents the general trp giving audience, who is not a part of IF or FB or any other discussion forum! We both think Yash is a better role to play than MSK. I am a huge MSK fan.and my mom loved Maan too. So, u see its all about individual perception.U think MSK's role was more challenging-fair enough,Its ur choice. I think Yash is more challenging, simply because MSK was a more author-backed role. He was larger than life, very heroic, angry young man- a character its easy to fall in love with. And of course Gurmeet played MSK in such a way that everyone went crazy about him.
But Yash is a humble, sensitive widower, father of two, respectful, sweet, yet has a temper, but does not show it easily. He is brooding, he is silent and grave. He has OCD. God, u think thats not challenging enough? How many actors have u seen playing an OCD guy in an Indian TV show? Gureet's reactions when he sees things out of place is so real! It feels he is actually OCD in his real life, though we know he isnt! Frankly,Yash is a complex character with several dimensions. And with time his character will undergo more changes and will grow.
As far as dialogues are concerned, i don't understand why some of us r so obsessed with them. Its not only that Yash has less dialogues, I think Aarti has equally less dialogues in the AarYa scenes. They do it all with their eyes!
And if someone is expecting Yash to be very talkative with the kids, that can't be because it would kill the character. Yash has a way of doiing things.
Lastly, if ur sole intention is to make a comparison of Yash with MSK and Punar Vivah with GHSP, then I am sure all that I and everyone else have said will be totally fruitless. In that case, I would request u not to make such comparisons in our forum again. The mod has already said that ghsp should not be mentioned here.
