EMA is a veyr very serious issue, the way they are handling it such a waste of air time. When they decide on a topic, do they ever have focus groups, discussions, do they never want to know people, kids of families with EMA and how actually they coped. The whole serial really is a figment of their imagination. Which lady will day and night hi/hello the other lady from across the gallery!!!!!! Why would she choose to stay away from her kids to get back her long gone husband.

If they had to only research the topic even if superficially they would know the difficulties real families and kids with EMA go through and what are they showing, Comedy???

This is such crap!!!!!

And which lady will allow the second woman to come and stay in their home and share their bedroom, marital bed, and which second home no matter how bad will come and stay in that man's house and look after HIS kids???

Gosh!!! The whole scenario is so wrong on so many levels. Everybody in the CV department comes from complete families and thus have no experience or sensitivity about the issue they are portraying!!!!!!

The show is built by Ekta and the film fraternity is more aware than any other profession about issues of EMA. In fact in that line EMA is more the norm than an exception, so do you really think that a focus group etc. is required for them.

The other thing this particular track is based on Biwi No.1 which in turn was inspired by Hollywood film She-Devil (Anushka totally based on Meryl Streep).

And seriously with EMA as topic there was only 3 things Ekta could do - either the Judaai track, or the Saans track or the Biwi No.1 track. After Saans everything else woould've fallen flat if Ekta had tried to go realistic or curb the OTT scenes.

I'm glad she took this route, coz I was thoroughly tired of the doormat weepy heroines that thrive in Ektaland.

y not let fictional serials be just fiction
n not try to compare it with reality

I have seen 100s of shows thru the years n never have I been able to compare my life with any :p

somewhere or the other every show lacks in something

the point is- u like it u watch it, u don't like it u can skip it ;)

the TV world has a lot to offer!

I am not talking about the fraternity as such, see their target audience is not the fraternity, for the common folks it is still a very big deal.

Focus group to see how a track like this would be recieved by audience--Even film guys have woken up to this reality where we now have directors show different endings to different focus groups to judge exactly what the audience would like to see.

Even if there is fiction for the sake of entertainment--like somebody pointed out--Do not make a mockery out of it--How about it going the Arth way-if at all there has a movie to be inspired from.

Like I said before my mistake, I have never watched an Ekta show before, so I really had no idea the extent these people will trivialize issues like this. I hope to see the serial turning around in a month after mona finishes trying every stupid thing her MIL comes up with before she seriously faces reality. If they do go the Biwi NO. 1 track--then I would say bbye.

On the other hand you know if they had to show this EMA with Suri and Pummy as the wife--Then I would be totally okay with the Biwi No 1 route. I expect and can accept Pummy coming up with such hilarious ways to teacher her husband a good lesson!! Their characterization is such, I would expect somebody like Pummy to come up with kicks like that!!!!!

LOL Pratts. I think you have no idea how Indian soaps are built. They have zero character sketches, zilch on story and plotlines, vacuum where themes are supposed to be and absolutely nothing where background research is supposed to be.

No one bothers about how a story or theme should be handled, actors are replaced at random and characters turn a volte face depending on the whims of the spot boy to the CVs to the PH to Channels.

Someone goes to a channel saying, "see this theme is not being handled by any serial on any channel right now so lets go with that and I know these two particular actors are not doing anything as of now, so i can rope them in for X amount". Voila you have a serial.

Anyway, I am expecting Arth track to come in soon after Anushka's plotting is exposed. She would do a Smita Patil to ensure that Pradeep stays with her. Where Mona is concerned, I think she'll stay on Biwi No. 1 track only. Neena Gupta had done an excellent job with her portrayal of the wife in Saans, which was more of an extension of Arth in my opinion. You must try and catch up with Saans, at least the first 100 episodes or so, if you can. That was an excellent serial.

Yes its true I do not watch soaps at all😃 I started out of curiosity with BV, am now seeing it again after some time because of the divorce/wedding track. Then started seeing uttaran, then stopped when nothing came of it. As of now I only watch BV and KHTV if time permits and read updates for parichay, kairee, dil se dua. So yes I do not watch much serials and that is why I had no idea Ekta making such a mess of such a powerful theme. I remember saans but cant recall much as I was a kid then but my mother loved it big time. I just wish this would go the arth way. And actually coming from an EMA family, the dysfunctionality we grew up with, it just annoys me to bits to see how these guys are dealing with it---thats all!!!!!
