i watch a lot of hindi soaps thanks to my mom, and i always notice that the younger generation is always wearing american clothing and stuff with the american flag on it. I mean whats going on here? I know that you can admire another country but shouldnt you be proud of your own too? I've NEVER seen anyone wearing an Indian flag on their shirt on any of these shows. What are these serials trying to prove? And what is this obssession with American flags????

I get really annoyed when i see people in India wearing A&F and American Eagle on a regular basis, first of all there are really good designers in India, and me and my friends would kill to get our hands on those clothes, but we see soooo many indian kids in india wearing american clothes???? I know this may sound a bit bratty or something like that but i really do think that wearing clothes with indian flags and things like that are pretty cool too, but we never see anyone doing it. Why is that?

I personally am happy that my country's flag isnt belittled by being embossed on tees and stuff 👏 😃 ....People have perhaps not forgotton that the Tiranga commands respect👏👍🏼😛

First of all i know what you mean i find wearing a U.S flag by an Indian very annoying. I wouldn't even do it in the U.S !!

Secondly there were many restriction on the Indian flag and its display , with regards to clothing ,accessories and even display of an actual flag. Therefore an Indian flag on clothes in not found easily.( I haven't personally many). So that would be the other reason why we don't have many Indians wearing / displaying the Indian flag.

We have been brain-washed since childhood that anything western is superior, and if you speak in English then you're cool and hip, those who can't are Ganwaars.🤢

I think the people who wear them in India don't wear them because they have the U.S flag on it, they wear them because they like the design....

If they saw something they liked with an Indian flag I don't think they would mind wearing that too.

We only care about the clothes and style of them I think rather than what they have on them.😛

I think Aparna is right...about the restriciton on display of the Indian flag..

not that i'm complaining......i'd hate for our tricolour to be commercialized or used in tasteless outfits

I agree with Aparna. Also, I have seen ohm and other symbols on clothes so I think with tiranga it has more to do with restriction like aparna said. But then why wear other country's flag 😆 that is really weired. i'ts like if you cant wear tiranga let's wear stars and stripes 😆

Also, after reading couple posts, I am curious... do you guys realy find it offensive to find tiranga on t-shirts?

wait..i am a little bit confused by what exactly you mean 😕 i am an indian..proud of it too..but a british indian..in the same way can you not be an indian american 😕 i am soo confused..lol 😳

agree with some of u guys, i think it's the fact that a lot of indians like shown in most indian serials..the indian teens always wanting to go to USA as they think of such a luxorious lifestyle over there..but thats's not always the case na..
it's like an ambition 4 soo many indians😛but gettin bak 2 d topic..bcoz americas soo developed..its not just their machines n stuff..but their style tht a lot of us like too 😉and according 2 me..this is the main reason..
but khizu i ahree with u 2..it matters on a person or their personality actually hai na

Don't know abot the flag stuff, but I guess that many "Hip" Indians are very much inclined towards the western fashion emblems and brands. In my engg. college there was a section of students whom we used to call UBItes(Unfortunately Born in India). My first year room-mate was a total "western fashion" freak. She liked to dress up like that, listen to hard rock and of course speak only english. Truely I have seen people giving a lot of importance to her. I remeber once people came running to her room to see her imported sports *** and shoes(she was so obsessed with the shoes that she used to keep them on her reading desk), which her sister who worked in British Airways got for her.

Recently I was surprised to see the movie "Mixed Doubles", I doubt even the Indian-Americans here do lead life like that.
