Part-9

"No woman is required to build the world by destroying herself. "

~Rabbi Sofer

The harsh reality of a penniless existence made Ahem sober again...Nikki was now history...she was a storm which took away everything from him.

The prodigal son returned home too late. Modi Constructions was now non-existent. Parag, who had planned to retire this year went abroad to stay with his relatives and work there and earn some money to sustain his family.

Modi Bhavan was sold and the proceeds were used to clear their debts and send Ahem to USA. Anita had forgiven him for the sake of their children and agreed to start their live afresh.

Gopi married Ryan in a low-key ceremony. They hadn't invited a lot of people because Ryan believed that marriage is a personal affair and not a political rally where crowd was desirable. Gopi was now bound to Ryan with the silken thread of love...but somehow she felt liberated too..liberated from her mores. Ryan knew the importance of space in relationships. He made Gopi realise how wrong her notions about duties were. She was made to realise that taking some time out for oneself is not wrong though it went against the values she was brought up with.

One of the things about equality is not just that you be treated equally to a man, but that you treat yourself equally to the way you treat a man. ~Marlo Thomas

Gopi learnt the importance of respecting herself. She was no longer a Parithyakta now.

Ahem and Anita too somehow cobbled a life together...and Ahem's suspicion about Neelima Parekh's real identity never cleared.😊

That was yet another of your intriguing FFs.
While reading all the parts it told of Gopi's chances to a better life, which she eventually got in the end. The loser, Ahem, had to radically alter his life to realise the lose of an opportunity when he had it in his hands.
Looking forward to reading your next story.
