Getting to the topic, even I have seen this question asked many times before in various places. Just like others, even I would say it may have just been Siddharth's feelings for Soha blending into the film. Whatever it was, I did feel Karan liked Sonia. But isn't that also the beauty of this movie? There are so many thoughts and possible story lines that stayed with the audiences' mind. The fact that one can dissect this film and its characters tells a lot.

When I watched the movie, I did feel that he had some sort of feelings for her.

And then later on, I think I read an interview (I think it was Sidharths), that he was supposed to have feelings for Sohas character which they were going to explore after Madhavans death, but then they decided against it.

But it was such a long time ago Im not sure whose interview it was.
