Nobody loves Jayasurya?
Actor Jayasurya feels hard work goes to waste in Mollywood

The last decade has seen actor Jayasurya experiment with a variety of interesting characters. Unfortunately, the actor says he does not get enough appreciation for anything that he has done so far. Remind him of how well his previous film releases Beautiful and Cocktail were received here and he says, "I think it would have been a completely different scene if such films were released in, say, the Tamil film industry. It might be a bit childish to think so, but I feel that only if an actor is encouraged for what he has done so far would he be able to take up more interesting roles in the future."
Incidentally, some of the films that Jayasurya has done off late seem to have whet his appetite for serious films. The 33-year-old actor says, "Honestly, comic roles do not offer me any satisfaction as an actor. Instead, if I am playing a character with depth, I would do so even if I were appearing for just one scene. But that does not mean I am going to get choosy about what I do. The bigger issue in Mollywood is that you come across only around two or three such serious films. Waiting only for those does not make much sense as an actor's market value would dip and soon one will be off the radar."
While Jayasurya has been one among the few actors who has managed to gain a firm foothold in the industry over the years, he says, "This is still a testing phase. It is only lately that the audience is beginning to place their confidence in me."
