As an introduction, I am a male, and am a huge fan of SRK and Katrina Kaif, hence the username srkat :)

Am i the only one that feels that this film is underrated? Even thought it's not a great film, it is above average. The film has some solid stuff, such as the scenes where SRK is in the lab and Ra One starts to come to life, the scene where Ra One kills Shekar, the Bhare Naina song right after, the chase scene where Ra One chases the kid and Kareena, SRK's entry as G One, the scene where SRK lands on top of Kareena's car as G One, while the kid and Kareena just stare at him...yet, no one talks about any of these scenes! People act like this film was the second coming of Tees Maar Khan, although it definitely isn't.

So, what is with all the flak for film Ra One? Why is there so much hatred towards it?

Also, as a side question, on my account it says that i have something for newsletter subscriptions, even though i never signed for that...what does that mean? is it free?

hatred is not the term...the word is dissappointment...

when a big movie is in works, and it promises to provide something good and refreshing with a huge name like SRK people carry expectations...they expect tht the film should have a good story to tell

and when those expectations are turned like these things - kid teasing her mother with condom condom...her mother says condom condom repeatedly..sex yoga, the hero hitting the balls of the villian to overpower him...and with zero storyline...it becomes trash...

so whatever Ra.one is getting it deserves it...and every fan of shahrukh should wake up and take guts to accept the fact tht he has made the worst film of his career as a producer.

first write a good story develop it nicely into a good script film it and then promote it...dats how a good movie works.

I understand that there shouldn't have been adult jokes in a film that was mainly targeting children. But, I feel that people sometimes tend to overlook the other good aspects of the film and instead keep thinking about the adult jokes and stuff, even though they weren't a main part of the film. The power yoga scene, for instance, was only there for about a minute. I feel the other things (like the emotional parts of the film) get overlooked.

Another thing that I wonder is that when people knew in advance what the storyline was about ( a dialogue promo was released a month before the film's release) where SRK was clearly saying "i'm going to create a game, where the villain will never lose" then why did people watch the film anyways and then reject the concept, even though they knew well in advance what the concept was?

Sorry, this isn't me taking a personal dig at you, it's just me speaking generally about the public as a whole.

SRK experimented a new concept with this movie... a concept which was new n which wasnt much appreciated by the indian audience...i bet u if this movie was a HW movie it wud hav worked...anyway regardless of whether it was a hit/flop u hav 2 giv credit 2 SRK for tryin a new concept n experimenting @ a time wer onli comedy films wer ruling...

srk was awesome in da movie n cudnt imagine ne1 else bt SRK do this role... he was just amazing... but at the same time i prefer seeing him in romantic movies... movies like KKHH and DDLJ wer u jus fall in love with him/his character

@srkkat : SRK experimented with a new concept of bringing VFX in the movie which got appreciated and tht was the only good thing about the film, but i don't think there was anything good besides it...the film was actually a spoof of the superhero movies...

and @Yuvika_15 :efforts are appreciated when they are made in the right direction but SRK got all wrong here...

even the VFX were made by International companies and VFX supervisiors...what was there in the movie we can probably boast of ?😕

I think the action and special effects were quite cool. They were worth watching.

I sometimes wonder though, how the Indian audience can love films like Ready (wasn't a terrible film, but didn't deserve so much appreciation and ATBB status) and they love Dabanng but absolutely hate Ra One. What if Salman Khan did the exact same film (Ra One) and did things like the train scene...would the Indian audience have liked it more? it's weird...

well i dont know abt the others...but films like ready bodyguard and of course RA.ONE were an insult to the viewers...MASSES don't need to watch good movies they want to watch entertainment ...these all films are pure garbage and shows the poor condition from which indian cinema is going through and dat is it

Ra One and Bodyguard were both above average, but not great (my opinion).

I'm re-watching it right now. I wanted to give it a fair chance since there are films I've disliked at first viewing but after a second watch I've come to like them----sometimes, as with Devdas, to love them. Ra.One, however, I really find unpleasant. From that first weird dream sequence in which SRK looks haggard, ancient and scrawny to the ugly, and completely unnecessary killing of the Chinese mother (Would they do that to an overprotective Indian mother I wonder?) it's just a less than likeable film.
My son pointed out that G.One doesn't have any particular character. It's as if SRK wanted to maintain his cute, charming, sweet guy image while playing a robotic, bad ass at times but the two characters didn't mesh so that G.One just comes off as---what? He's not a lover, and he's a kind of half hearted fighter.
What is his character supposed to represent? He's not enough like the father to be a substitute dad for Prateek and while there was much that could have been done with Kareena's character and G.Ones physical similarity to her husband it was kind of left hanging out there.
I adore SRK and of course "I" cried just seeing him appear on screen and I'd give ten years off my life to have G.One around but for people who don't feel as I do...well...what's the point?
Bad comedy, a kind of nasty kid, people who are ridiculously rich for no good or explained reason and some forgettable songs with the squatting, humping Criminal dance number surely being a top contender for the award of Least Suitable Choreography In A Kid's Film.
Other than being "in love" with G.One for my own reasons there is just no damned excuse for this movie at all besides an exercise in VFX.😕

I liked the movie...it entertained me...
The problem is that people went to see RA-one...with the expectations of 'MATRIX'...of course they will be disappointed...it was no where near matrix...but atleast it was a good start by Shahrukh...I went to see a Shahrukh movie...thats what I saw...I anyways never expect a lot from the Bollywood masala movies...if i'll want to watch a movie with content I will watch a Meryl Streep movie...simple..
