BOLLYWOOD BANTER
By Naresh Kumar - Eye TV India Bureau Tsunami 's impact on Preity Preity Zinta has been busy in writing her diary. The tragedy of Tsumani has left a great impact on her life, she says. She wants to confine shooting of her movies in India only. " I have seen the world. I want to live in my country in peace." Preity has struggled a lot in earlier stage of her career, but is well placed in the industry now. She is considered the only 'man' in the industry inasmuch as she hasn't hesitated a bit to speak the truth about the underworld in the court while her several senior colleagues had backtracked. She has chosen her life partner in a business magnate Ness Wadia. When will she marry with Ness can be anybody's guess. Dimple, Shilpa's relationship Dimple Kapadia and Shilpa Shetty have several similarities. Both were born on June 8th, though after a gap of eighteen years; while Dimple was born in 1957, Shilpa took birth in 1975. Again, Dimple began her career with 'Bobby'; Shilpa's debut was 'Baazigar'. Both the movies start with 'B', isn't it? Both the actors have their sisters in Bollywood too; Dimple's sis is Simple and Shilpa's is Shamita. However, their personal lives are not as similar. Dimple led a married life with super actor Rajesh Khanna, Shilpa had an affair with leading actor Akshay Kumar. Dimple didn't have a successful married life for long and separated from Rajesh, Shilpa Shetty was ditched by Akshay even before marrying her. Incidentally, Akshay has married with Dimple's daughter Twinkle Khanna! Ritu for serious movies Director Rituparno Ghosh, once known for the art cinema, is seen at present making movies with commercial artists. Why so? Anyway, Ghosh still maintains the theme of his movies. He may sign commercial artists but confines himself to movies with serious subjects. He has signed Soha Ali Khan and Sameer Dattani in his next. Earlier, Soha Ali has acted in 'Antarmahal', but Sameer didn't have one. With the signing of both -- Soha and Sameer in his next, Rituparno has provided fodder for a rumor that both have thickened their affair that had reportedly begun during the shooting of 'Pyaar'. However, Soha denies this, and says that Rituparno has signed both of them in his next as he has found that both fit in well. That's all. Rituparno , however, describes the pair of Soha and Sameer with that of Dimple and Rishi Kapoor than began with 'Bobby' and still continues. Actors play professionals There is a move among actors turning professionals though in reel life only. We have come across Priyanka Chopra acting as TV channel reporter in 'Krrish', the sequel of 'Koi Mil Gaya', released last week. Priyanka is seen filing a story on the superpowers of Hrithik Roshan for Singapore TV channel. Dia Mirza had played a TV journalist in 'Dum' and Preity Zinta as a war correspondent in 'Lakshya'. Konkana Sen had worked as a reporter in Madhur Bhandarkar's ' Page 3'. The actors aren't far behind in playing other professionals too. They have played politicians too. The latest in this regard is the character of Sonia Gandhi played by an Italian actress, the look-alike of Sonia Gandhi in Jagmohan Mundhra's 'Sonia'. Earlier, Suchitra Sen, grandmother of three Sen sisters and mother of Moon Moon Sen who played the most crucial character of the then India's Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 'Aandhi' and Raveena Tandon in 'Satta'.
