Yet another laugh riot... Film makers experimenting with the comedy genre is not a thing of the past. Some comedy films manage to leave an impression on us while some just fade away. Well the latest 'comedy flick promos' hitting the screens is Rohit Shetty's GOLMAAL starring Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi, comedy king Paresh Rawal, Sharman Joshi and Tushar Kapoor in the main lead. It is produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision Limited and K Sera Sera with music by Vishal Shekhar. Incidentally, Rohit Shetty made his directorial debut with ZAMEEN in 2003 where he depicted air hijacking on celluloid. That was a hard -core action film while GOLMAAL seemingly promises mind boggling comedy.

The story revolves around the lives of Gopal (Ajay Devgan), Lucky (Tusshar Kapoor), Mahadev (Arshad Warsi) and Laxmi (Sharman Joshi), 4 guys bound together by their child like notoriety, aimlessness and petty business of conning people for fun and money.

Gopal is the wisest and wickedest of all and his motto is to eat, drink and be merry (Kal Kya Hoga Kisko Pata types). Mahadev and Lucky are also of the opinion that only idiots work while wise men work in a different way to make their lives comfortable. Among the 4 is Laxmi, a bright student and the only one who is sincere and God-fearing.

At one point, due to their notorious acts, the dean of their college throws them out of the hostel and they have nowhere to go. Gopal the biggest bully and the wittiest of all, tells them about a bungalow inhabited by an old blind couple, whose son, daughter-in-law and grandson are in America.

Gopal plans to enter the bungalow pretending to be Prashant (the blind couple's grandson). He also asks the rest of them to move in with him, the only condition being, everyone except for him would always remain silent. This bizarre sequence leads to much confusion throughout the film creating lots of comedy.

So hold your breath guys... GOLMAAL is slated for a July 2006 release. It definitely seems like 'fun unlimited'. The promos indeed appear preposterous, so let's see if the film really has an on-the-edge comedy to offer.
