A prelude to the establishment of the Kismet Konnection between Arti and Yash prior to their engagement.
Now that Yash n Arti have finally seen each other and got engaged after a long list of hits and misses and chance encounters –I look back upon the incidents
and circumstances depicted leading to the ultimate establishment of the kismet connection between these two kindered souls—-one with a broken heart from a husband whom they had loved with heart and soul, and the other with a heart full of past memories of their deceased wife , unwilling to let go.
They say that marriages are made in heaven and love only happens once , but in the serial Punar Vivah we see the spiritual union of Yash and Arti long before they even met or knew of the existence of each other, despite having loved others before.
The very first instance of this soul connection was when Yash accidentally brushed past Arti in her friend's marriage an then later when Yash had mis judged the timing of the Varmala exchange and accidentally pressed a switch to release the shower of rose petals on Arti. This incident annoyed Yash but then left him giving a second thought to the troublesome girl who was present at the wrong place and at the wrong time.
Another instance was when Arti and Yash have a telephone conversation regarding some pending payments, little knowing that they were speaking to their future life partner. Arti manages to convince Yash to see her view point and manages to provoke a grudging admiration in Yash with her forthright ness and business acumen.
A chance encounter on the train , leaves them both passing each other by without seeing each other's faces , but as fate would have it , Yash is given a twenty rupee note with Arti's fresh lipstick mark on it by the snack vendor on the train. The lipstick mark serves to symbolize that even though unwittingly, Yash is compelled to keep another woman's lipstick marked note in his pocket—and ironically that too, of his would be wife's.
One of my all time favorites would be at the Dargah , when both are tying threads on opposite sides of the wall and Yash's fingers accidentally slide over Arti's. with the sufi song Kun faya kun playing in the background This song, the scene and incident at the holy shrine, established the divine intervention and true Kismat Connection of Yash and Arti —– who did feel a tingling awakening of their senses with the slightest touch of their finger tips .
Later , we see their paths crossing again when Arti is in a hurry to reach Ansh's school on time and trys to overtake Yash's car in her Scooty. Yash glimpses Arti on the Scooty but fails to see her face hidden by a helmet—he ultimately gives way and is bemused at the mother and son's antics on the Scooty. This gives us an inkling that both Arti and Ansh have the capacity to amuse Yash and keep him smiling if not laughing at least.
That very night, fate brings Yash and Arti to the banks of the same pond but on opposite sides to reflect and ponder upon their present situation and bitter-sweet memories. Once again we see a union of thoughts in the selection of the same bank of the pond to introspect.
Finally , another beautifully portrayed scene establishing the Kismat connection was when Arti's dupatta gets caught in the corner of Yash's car door while passing by—– to me it seemed that Arti's red dupatta covering Yash's wind shield heralded the entry of the colors of future marital bliss for Yash.
Happy engagement Yash And Arti !
