Guess who's back in the city once again? Pakistani actor Meera, who, only last month, had said that she was disillusioned by the treatment meted out to her by certain sections of Bollywood.
So, what has prompted her to return? "Yes, I did say I was disillusioned then but today, I have a plan of action that I won't share with anybody. Very soon, I will be a big star in Bollywood. Main naumeed nahin banungi."
She is also back in Mumbai to shoot a song sequence for the Pakistani re-make of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's Devdas, directed by film maker Iqbal Mirchi.
Meera is playing Chandramukhi, the character Madhuri Dixit played in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's remake of the film. Meera says that she had come to Bollywood because she wanted to become a big star like Madhuri.
"I wanted to become a star like her, but unfortunately, I didn't get good offers. I'm more talented than all the other actors in Bollywood😆," she says. So, why didn't her career take off in Bollywood?
"I think the producers don't trust me," she says. But what about the films offered to her by the Bhatts? "If the script of the film was good perhaps it would have been a hit. As for me, I had put in my best."
The actor insists she has not given up on Bollywood.
"Most of the female actors here are above 30. I'm just 24 years old and have many more years to prove myself," she says and adds, "Actors like Preity Zinta and Rani Mukherji have such ordinary faces unlike me. I am better looking and more photogenic than them."😆
Some feel that Meera always says and does things for publicity. What does she have to say to that? "I don't say anything for publicity. In fact, I don't want more publicity. I always speak from my heart," she reacts.
