"I am not in a position to comment on whether I play the second lead. But my role is very important. I am also in the mujra song, which adds weight to my character," says Maryam. "There are many characters in the movie who have their own stories, but every story has some connection with Saif," she elaborates.
Maryam, who is Iranian by origin and has lived in Sweden, has done a handful of Telugu movies like 100% Love (2011) and Madatha Kaaja (2011) before entering Bollywood. "Sadda Adda happened after I completed shooting for Agent Vinod. It relea-sed first, so it became a reference point," says the actor.
Not many know that Maryam was a professional dancer in Sweden. "I have been running my own dance school in Sweden. I've worked as a dance choreographer and done stage shows in and around Europe before I came to India," says Maryam, adding, "In Agent Vinod, I play a dancer from Afganisthan, who performs in different countries. I am present almost throughout the movie and will be seen encountering Saif in different parts of the world. I have loads of action sequences too."
Talking about her experience of working with Kareena, she says, "She is number one, not only in acting but by nature too. However, the mujra I do with Kareena is the only dance sequence I have in the film. That's at an essential juncture of the film."
And did she find it difficult to dub for her role? "It is my own voice in Agent Vinod because I have this (Iranian) accent and it fits the bill of a character who belongs to Afganisthan," says Maryam
