It's Kareena nots Malaika for 'Dabangg 2' item

Kareena Kapoor has been pencilled in to perform the item number replacing Munni in 'Dabangg 2'.

The 'Chhammak Challo' girl will be seen doing an item number in the sequel to 'Dabangg' which is being directed by Arbaaz Khan.

Kareena has been chosen ahead of the film's producer Malaika Arora Khan.

If Munni had the downloading of songs touch an alltime high, the new song in 'Dabangg 2' which is more or less being done by Sajid Wajid or Lalit Pandit, is slated to be a proper desi number.

Kareena hasn't done a complete item song as yet having stayed away from that kind of a song and dance routine, but will now be doing the item song which will perhaps help her get some brownie points ahead of 'Chikni Chameli' Katrina Kaif.

For those who need more details, Arbaaz Khan's debut as a director is going to be one of the biggest films to look forward to in 2012. The film will go on the floors on March 9, when Salman is expected to face the camera for the film. The film will oscillate between Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, Satara and the capital city of Mumbai in Maharashtra.

Besides Salman Khan the film also has Arbaaz Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Prakash Raj, Deepak Dobriyal, Nikiten Dheer and Mohan Agashe.

The film is slated to be shot for over seven months at these locations and the film will be wrapped up by October end.
