Part IV

Dammit!

He winced as his hand closed in on the latch' the cuts on his hand had stopped bleeding but were still open. He managed to open the door finally' his mood, heavy, as the pain brought back the memories of his earlier outbreak and what led up to it.

"Jee Nani ji? Aap ko kuch chahiye tha?" Arnav asked, in a somber tone.

"Haan' Khushi bitiya se baat karni hai' kahaan hai woh?" Nani ji replied in a grim voice, moving past him into the room, not waiting for an invitation.

"Washroom mein hain'" Arnav offered. "Khushi! Nani ji aap se baat karna chaahti hain," he yelled, in an irritated tone.

"Gussa hone ki kauno zaroorat naahin, Chhote," Nani ji said, as she turned back to look at him.

Khushi emerged from the bathroom, shorn off her makeup, and jewelry. Her face was still flushed, and her head bent, much like a coy bride. Her hands were at her sides, clutching her lehenga, as if it were her lifeline.

Waah! Kya nakhre hain meri patni ke' acting bhi dekho uski. Nani ji zaroor pighal jaayengi'

"Khushi bitiya' aap hamare saath chaliye," Nani ji spoke in a softer tone.

Khushi looked up at Nani ji, confused, "Jee?! Hum'" and then cast a glance at Arnav, in askance.

"Aap Chhote ki taraf kya dekhi rahi hain?" Nani ji asked.

He was looking downward, rather preoccupied. Her eyes moved in the direction of what held his attention' his injured hand. "Hai' Devi Maiyya!" Khushi exclaimed, in horror! "Main to bhool hi gayi thi!"

Nani ji surprised by her unexpected reaction, asked "Kya bhool gayi thi?" and turned.

Arnav instinctively pulled his hand behind his back, and looked up to find two sets of worried eyes trained in his direction. Wanting to deflect the attention from himself, he feigned nonchalance, "Mm' Nani ji' Aap Khushi ko kaahaan le jaa rahi hain?"

Nani ji ignored his question. "Aap hum se kuch chhupa rahe hain, Arnav bitwa?" she asked upfront.

"Nahin to'" he snapped back, and moved towards the chaise lounge.

Nani ji suddenly screamed in dismay, her eyes looking beyond him, "Yeh kaisan hui gavaa?!!"

Khushi and Arnav both looked extremely guilty, and turned their gazes towards what she was looking at!

Rather sad after watching today's episode on telly... I had to write to feel better. This one's not sad or happy, but it leads to something important. Hope you enjoy this short piece... more tomorrow!
