"shes really brown...I dont like that...an actress should be white...i know i sound racial...but a brown actress would niet attract masses...tank god there is whitening otherwise het yellow/grey skin would stop her from getting roles...we need more kareena skin tones"

This comment started this whole debate for what an actress should look like (skin tone) and stuff, etc.

If you could all just read some of the comments posted underneath the picture.

I would never ever write such a thing, because i have dark skin myself, but reading the comments i don't even know what to say. I feel offended, i mean really, why do we have such an obsession with being white?

A lot of guys I know are like that...they're brown themselves but I swear one of them told me that they don't want to make love to a dark girl😔...good thing I'm not even friends with the dude

I guess with Indian actresses, we've seen more success with the lighter ones, so it's hard to think that someone dark could also have the same success because this desire for light skin is pervasive throughout our culture. Ads show those fairness creams, the celebs are whitewashed in the mags, and all of the celebs in the films are blasted with light so they "glow". That's why I'm looking forward to her singing "career" attempt in Hollywood...in a world of Gaga's and Nicki Minaj's, who cares if PC's brown? 😆

It's pretty sad.
It can all be summed up with...everyone wants what they can't have.

Here...US, or any where else..."white" people tan. Tanning is a craze...everyone tans. Here, if you're tan you are considered pretty and so on. In contrast, in countries like India...everyone has a craze of being "white" aka fair.

...It's silly.

All my favorite actresses are dusky skin tone like deepika, rani, priyanka and konkona...I like them because I'm sick and tire of seeing fair skinned in bollywood as the most beautiful ever.

When you see actresses without make up pics...people always praise the lighter skinned and the dark skinned gets the most bashed.

I really love how PC's color is...she's so beautiful and unique in my eyes
