Hi Saathians, this is my first OS. I like writing a lot but stopped a while ago, but the emotional episode of Today made me write this one. This is my first OS and first essay where I am writing a love story . please bear with me and my imagination.
Ahem has been watching Gopi's behavior for past few days. He had let it go for initial couple of days rubbing it off and concentrating on his work. But not after that. He observed her weakening day by day. For few minutes that he gets to see her in a day, he clealy observed frown and turmoil on her beautiful face. He has not seen that even in their darkest days when he abused her like filth. He remembered how her peaceful and serene smile had an effect on him even when he was running away from her...
Ahem wants to set this right, he decided not to make Gopi suffer in any way. This decision was subconsciously made by him on the night, where he dreaded a life long separation from Gopi. He pondered over their relation standing at the window of their room, the place is a let out for both of them. He remembered how he felt when he first saw her on their engagement day. He was attracted to her..period. His lips curled into a smile remembering the incident when he helped her from falling in the dark holding light in her hands. This was destined he thought, she was the bearer of light in my life...late realization struck him. He is not aware that he is in for more and more realizations in few minutes from now. Later he remembered their marriage rituals and his commitment towards his new begining with the girl sitting next to him. He wondered how destiny played its wrathful indulgence by creating misunderstandings between him and his wife. How in a fit of anger he misunderstood a person so pure and selfless. May be Kanahji does not want him to accept His favourite girl just because it is a comprimise. He wants him to fight for her love. In this process he has to shed down his negative emotions to accept a positive light in his life. He has broken all his barriers in heart and in the process, as a true saathiya, his wife stood by him. Not even once she had shown her pain to him. Tears rolled down his cheeks when he remembered the day when she took back their marriage vows. How much her heart should have wept. His heart is now in the same state. SHE LOVED ME AND SHE STILL DOES. I am the one who should make her realize that I love her. LOVED ONLY HER. She is his FIRST LOVE. Little does Ahem know that Gopi already sensed his love towards her.
In kitchen:
Gopi knows that Ahem loves her. She had won her husbands love through her patience and love. She knows that her husband is restless seeing her behaviour. She understands his need to be with her. afterall she knows him in and out. But, she cannot hurt her maaji who have shown a way to her life, who loves her as her own daughter. She has to chose between her both eyes. She herself realized how vulnerable she becomes when her husband shows his love towards her. Few times, she observed Ahem wanting to touch her and talk to her. She has seen his love flowing in his eyes. This is what she dreamt her whole life. It is all in front of her but she was tied by her vow. Anger, a distant emotion for her is now the only recluse she finds. She already brushed off Ahem with anger this morning when he asked her to choose a shirt for him. Her heart is weeping. She was awakened from her inner fight with the huge iron vessel falling off from kitchen top on her foot. She did not scream. Her heart is going through lot more pain now...
Kokila observes Gopi having trouble walking and asks her to go and rest. Gopi goes to her room and senses Ahem is away. She quitely goes to her bed and starts applying balm on the sprained foot. Just then ahem enters whose eyes immediately notices the swelling on his wife's foot. He rushes to her, takes her leg and places her foot on his thigh. His brows are frowned as if he is in pain. "Gopi, cant you be careful, how many times you get yourself hurt like this, clumsy girl". Gopi senses his love when he screams at her. His way of expressing. She immediately plunges to reality and drags off her leg from Ahem' hold and starts limping toward the closed door of their room. This act of hers makes Ahem uncontrollable. He barges towards her, drags her from behind and thrust her to their wardrobe nearby. Gopi screams with pain as her leg twits under his muscular leg. He placed his hands on both sides of her body against the wardrobe. They are so close that they could sense their breating. She sees into Ahem's eyes and is shocked. His eyes are watered and tears rolled down his cheeks. "I dont mind how much your pain is now. Do you know, Gopi, the pain I am going through. Why are you avoiding me. Is this the punishment I have to go through for not treating you properly and not realizing your love in the past. I am ready to take that punishment. But please dont go away from me. It is painful." Saying this he freed her and moved little backwards. Gopi could not stand his pain. She threw himself on him and hugged him tightly, crying uncontrollably. Ahem responded and hugged her tight. This time he does not want her to move away from him. "I am sorry Ahemji, I could not bear it anymore. I am drained. I love you. But how could I go against maaji. Saying this she faints." Ahem understands everything. He carries her towards their bed and gives her some water. She is so weak. he knows that she was not taking food properly. He immediately goes down to bring her some juice. He was stopped by his mom who asked him what is happening. He tells her he would meet her in few minutes and leaves to his room. He makes Gopi drink juice and asks her to rest. He reassures her that everything will be fine, kisses on her forehead and leaves to his mother's room. He is sure about his life now. He wants to convey the same to his mother now...

Kokila's Room:
Kokila is worried after seeing Ahem rushing to his room with juice. He told her that he would come to talk to her in few minutes. What could that be. Is it related to Gopi. More and more thoughts ran into her mind as she thought more about it. She is sure that Ahem is upset with her. Her train of ifs and whethers are interrupted by a knock at her door. She sees her ever obedient son standing at the door with most peaceful smile on his lips. Did Gopi's innocence rubbed on my son, was her first thought seeing him. She asked him to come and sit beside her and asked him whether everything was fine.
Ahem knelt on floor before his mom and took her hand into his and started talking to her caressing her palm.
"Mom, you have been a wonderful mother. Many see a hard side of you from outside but I know how soft are you from your heart. I am fortunate to be the one who experienced the warmth of your love behind those harsh words. Do you know, mom, there is one more person who has experienced it other than me. She is lying shattered in my room. My wife. Your gopi vahu." Kokila was shocked and was about to say something when Ahem stopped her saying that he has not yet finished.
"Mom, you have given me everything. I understand your insecurities of being a wife of someone who doesnot contribute to a joint family. you might have gone through some painful situations which I am not aware of. I know that you do not want me to go in my father's footsteps and neglect my work. In the process of making me realize the importance of work, you always criticized my father," he paused a bit seeing his mother frown and immediately said "your husband. Mom, why do you think papa never spoken a word against you even when you ruthlessly mocked him in front of everyone." Kokila was not expecting this from Ahem. Before she stood up to stop him from saying further Ahem said "Because papa loves you Mom. He loves you. I have always seen an awe in his eyes when he talks to you. He loves you for what what you are. He loves poetry as much as he loves you. He has not succeeded because he does not have motivation from his other love that is you. You never stood for papa's dream. Have you ever heard his poetry for which he says you are inspiration. You stopped being his life partner and papa lost his motivation. Yes Mom it is true. I also recently read them when I found Gopi reading his books. Mom, papa writes wonderful poetry. " Kokila is now touched. She remembers parag's poetry during their initial days of marriage. Yes she loved it then. Later she felt that his poetry is useless and did not encourage him. She never heard any poems later from him.

"Mom, I have understood what it means to have a life partner. I understood it very late, after 1.5 years into my marriage, struggling with my emotions and hurting Gopi's emotions. It was a rough walk for me. At the end of the day I am glad that my Mom once agian chose a wonderful life partner for me. She is the one whom you selected for me. You know her better than me. How could you think she would cause distraction for me. She is so selfless. She doesnt even fight for my love, which is her right. Mom, I am love with my wife." Kokila looked at Ahem with concern on her face.
"No mom, dont think that falling in love is going to make me forget my duties as son or a businessman. Infact, falling in love with Gopi had made me more confident and look forward for our future together. She has become pillar of my strength as you are. My life is not complete without her love,Mom. I want to make this clear to you Mom that I have a personal life where Gopi has every right to live along with me. Please realize this mom, I could be like Ahem if she is with me. otherwise, I do not know who I am. Saying this Ahem went to his mom and hugged her. I would also like to tell you that my love for Gopi has not made me neglect you and never will."
"Gopi loves you as her mother. She is ready to sacrifice my love for her to keep her promise to you. She is a unique girl mom, and we are fortunate for having her in our lives. Please mom, try to understand our relationship. and please understand papa also. the day you stand behind him and encourage, he will make you proud. Before, Ahem could turn and leave, kokila stopped Ahem and hugged him. She wiped her tears off and held her son close to her. "Ahem Dikra, I am proud that I have a son like you. You have made me realize there is a world for me too which I neglected and there is a person who is waiting for my love. I am really sorry if I had hurt your feelings. I am blinded by ego and fear of loosing you. But you have opened my eyes. Yes, I should not have estimated Gopi's intentions in a wrong way. She is the same girl I saw her for the first time. Let me come with you and ask sorry from my vahu."
Kokila moved towards the door but Ahem stopped her saying. "Mom, you know gopi, right. She feels bad if you say sorry to her. She will not even let her Rashiben say sorry to her even after knowing what all she has done to her". and laughs out loud. Kokila is surprised to see the happiness on Ahem's face that she missed seeing on his face for years now. She knew that her son is in safe hands of her vahu now.
