Chapter 70
Maan and Geet were back in India...a black limo was waiting for them as they arrived outside of the airport...he helped Geet get inside the car...As soon as they were inside..Maan puts a blind fold on her...
Geet: Maan what are you doing?
Maan: Sshh Geet it is a surprise...(she tried to take out her blindfold but Maan holds both of her hands) Don't make me become a shetan Geet..(he whispers in her ear...she blushes and sits quietly in the car trusting Maan fully...)
Geet: At least tell me where you are taking me...
Maan: Nope..you will find out later..
Geet: Maan what is this...I want to go home...I am tired..can we see the surprise tomorrow?
Maan: sshhh Geet...if you ask anymore questions again then...(he presses her lips with his thumb letting her know of his intentions...) Do you have any more questions? (She nodes her head no...Maan smirks...he pulls her to his lap..she puts her head on his chest...)
Geet: Maan what if the driver sees us
Maan: No one can see us Geet ONLY I can see you...(she hugs him tight, loving his possessiveness) Go to sleep if you want...I know you are tired
Geet: Hmmm
She hugs him around his waist..sleeping while Maan runs his hand on her back soothing her...he closes his eyes thinking about his childhood, the darkness he had lived in all his life...
Now, they were gone, Geet was his guiding light and the baby would be his angel...he will no longer live in darkness. He still had hatred inside him, hate for his father, hate for Dev and Pammi who were now being tortured daily. he would never forgive his father for what he had done but for Geet he will allow him to live with them...he will make sure he doesn't get too near Geet...
he will not allow his past history repeat again, he will be their protector...he looks at Geet and hugs her tight in a protective manner...The car stops...Maan puts down the window...he opens up her blindfold and makes her get up
Maan: Geet we are here to your surprise...open your eyes and look ahead (she slowly opens her eyes and looks toward the window...her eyes tears up..she looks at Maan confused...he smiles) Your surprise...(the driver opens the door..both get down from the limo...he holds her hand tightly as they walk toward the house...he rings the bell...the door opens...)
"Geet beta.." (Her mom hugs her tightly...) "How are you?" (She looks at Maan and smiles...she puts her hand on top of his head...) "come in..."
Geet (stops..) How is papa doing? Is he better now?
Rano: Yeah he is all fine thanks to Maan beta...he got the best treatment...(Geet looks at him with a smile) Why don't you both come in?
Geet: No...I know papa must be still mad...I don't want him to make him more angry by coming in front of him...(she cries..Maan puts his arm around her shoulder consoling her)
"Why don't you ask me directly about how I am feeling..." (Geet looks up and saw her father coming toward them...she looks down..) "What you guys have done is wrong..." (he looks at Maan) "Our hopes and dreams were taken away from us..."
Geet; I am sorry papa...but
Mohindar: Let me finish Geet...you are our only daughter and to find out that you got married gave us a lot of pain...we always gave you your freedom to do whatever you want, whatever you desired but that does not mean that you can stomp on our hearts like we don't matter...(Maan holds her hand tightly)
Rano: what are you saying..she is our daughter we have to forgive her.
Mohindar: Rano I am not done..let me say whatever I have to say
Geet; Mom its fine...
Mohindar: After the accident, when I found out that Maan paid all the money for my treatment..I was angry, mad...not at you guys but at myself...(both look at him confused) Mad that I couldn't recognize what a great life partner Geet has chosen...(he smiles and puts his hand on top of Geet...she hugs him tight crying)
I know I was harsh before with you guys but I guess I needed an eye opener to recognize a person...I don't think we can ever repay for what you have done for us Maan...why don't you both come in
Rano: Wait before they do I need to do aarti...don't let them come inside...
Mohindar (roles his eyes) okay hurry up...(Geet was still hugging him..he pats her back soothing her..after five minutes Rano comes with the arti..both Maan and Geet stand together holding hands...)
Rano: Now step inside the house with your right foot first...(Both nodes and does so...)
Mohdindar: Rano you have something prepared to eat?
Rano: of course...
Geet; mom let me help you (she nodes and goes in the kitchen...Maan and Mohindar sit together quietly not knowing what to say...Maan avoids looking at him..while Mohindar think of what to say...)
Mohindar: umm me and Rano had gone to your house to see Geet after I got better but we found out that you both were out of country
Maan: umm yes..I took Geet to Switzerland after her accident...
Mohindar (was shocked hearing that..) accident? what accident? what happened?
Geet: ohh nothing dad I just had fallen down...(she was coming out of the kitchen to set up the table when she heard them speak..she didn't want her parents to know what exactly happened...she gives a nod to Maan to not say anything..he understood) Maan got worried for no reason..so he planned a vacation for me
Rano (smiles hearing that) I knew you would choose the best person..come lets eat..(everyone sat on the dinning table...Geet and Maan look at each other..)
Geet; umm before we eat..we have to tell you guys something...
Mohindar: Yeah beta what is it?
Geet: woh umm...
Maan: she is pregnant...(Maan says it straight out...Rano and Mohindar look at each other with a smile...)
Rano: What! Oh my god...wait don't eat let me get some sweets...
Both feed Geet and Maan the sweets...everyone ate with a smile..Geet holds Maan's hand under the table thanking him...he holds her hand back...After lunch Geet told her parents about her trip to Switzerland, what she saw, the places they went...and even showed some pictures...
Maan looked at her with a smile..he was glad that she was finally smiling after a long time...he was happy to get the old Geet back that only knew how to smile and talk...both spent the whole day at her parents house..Maan looked at Geet's childhood pictures, listening to her funny stories which made her go red in embarrassment...he looked at her room...her things, her trophy's..he was really proud of her...it was night now and getting late...
Rano (hugs Geet...): Geet beta do come and visit us from time to time
Geet: of course mom...I will...
Mohindar: Wait a minute..Geet you are not going anywhere..(everyone was shocked hearing him...Mohindar stood there with shocked face..)
Geet; What do you mean?
Mohindar: You are not going with Maan (Maan closes his fists with anger..."how can he think of separating me from Geet? I will take her with me no matter what...") I will not let you go until we do a proper biddai for you...we couldn't do that before but now I want you too to get married properly following all the proper customs...you can only go with Maan tomorrow after you guys get re-married again...(Geet blushes and looks at Maan...) Bride and groom cannot see each other until tomorrow and besides this will give us some moments to spend with you...
Geet; papa can I talk to Maan alone first
Mohindar: sure...(Both Rano and Mohindar leave)
Maan (looks at her with pain) Geet I can't stay without you..I don't care..we are married already then what is the need to do all the customs again?
Geet (holds his hand) I know Maan...but this is the right way now...we both are starting our new life together and I want to do it the right way...I don't remember anything of our marriage..the only proof that I have is this mangalsuture and sindoor...I want to start fresh with you with new memories...become your wife the right way...please Maan won't you fulfill this wish for me as well
Maan: But you know that spending even a minute without you is like death for me...I don't think I will survive without you...how can I wait for you tomorrow? How will I ever pass the time?
Geet: I know...I will be in the same situation..I promise after tomorrow I will be with you forever...
Maan (puts his hand on her stomach) the baby...its part of me..how can I...
Geet (cups his face) I will be with you tomorrow...I promise...(Maan holds her hand and nodes..he hugs her tight...)
Maan: I will wait for you to come tomorrow then...
He looks at her one final time before leaving...he calls security to guard the house the whole night without letting them know...Maan goes back home...he opens the door...he felt so small in his own house..it was big and empty...this house had no feelings..
he remembered Geet's face..he smiled but soon the smile turned to anger when he saw her painful face...he breaks the coffee glass with anger...he wanted to be with Geet..each minute was making him restless and angry...he runs his fingers through his hair...he couldn't go past the stairs...it was paining him...
He breaks everything..
"this house will never let me live in peace..." He calls all the servants...they come and stand up in line..."close this house forever...No one will come to this house for anything..."
Nakul: But sir
Maan: But nothing!! This house will not be opened at all anymore..the doors will be closed for(all nod and leave...Maan looks at the house one last time, his mother, father, Geet's accident scenes played before his eyes...he closes the house door leaving without looking back once...)
