Chapter 8
Day 3

I entered the Khurana house reluctantly. If it weren't Annie's birthday, i would have never came here again. As soon as i stepped in, i spotted Maan with his back towards me at the bar drinking whiskey. I gulped and found Annie chatting with a few other people. I walked over to her smiling, handing her gift to her.

"Happy birthday." I said to her hugging.

"Thank you Geet." She said and i just smiled in response. Maan suddenly turned around and stared right at me. Our eyes met and i froze. He looked at me for a few seconds before setting his jaw and walking off. I breathed a sigh of relief.

About an hour later, Annie and i stood in a corner chatting until Vikram walked over. I threw Annie a look. "I didn't invite him." She said to me and i rolled my eyes. Who else would come uninvited other than the great Vikram Malhotra?
I glared at him as she stood beside me grinning after wishing Annie happy birthday. I groaned when Annie was called over by another guest.

Vikram grinned and stood in front of me with his hands in his pockets. "So, Geet. How are you?" He asked with a smirk on his face. I balled my hands into fists and turned away, looking anywhere and everywhere except at him. I turned to give a look of death when he touched my arm only to make him smirk once again. I pulled my arm away from him and took a step back. "What do you want?" I snapped.

"Nothing. I was just being friendly." He explained. I rolled my eyes and turned away from him, facing the crowd. To hell with him. Then he leaned down and whispered into my ear.

"I thought you and Maan were a thing. What happened? Did he realize what kinda person you are and he dumped you?" He sneered. I clenched my jaw and ignored him. I was actually glad when i saw Maan walking over to us. Vikram straightened up as soon as he spotted Maan.

"What's up Vikram?" Maan asked stuffing his hands into his pockets.
"Nothing, much. Geet and i were just reminiscing our old moments." He said. Maan nodded staring at me, his eyes and face unreadable. I felt like we were back to square one. The arrogant Maan Singh Khurana i had met. Something in me shattered and caused me immense pain at that thought.

"Well, if you'll excuse Geet and i, i have talk to her." Maan said. Vikram stared at me and then back at Maan before nodding and walking away. I bit my lip. What did he want to talk about?
Before i could say anything, Maan grabbed my arm and dragged me upstairs to a room. I felt like my heart wanted to jump out of my chest. What was he doing? Why was he taking me to a room? I pulled my arm away from his grip when we entered the room. My mouth dropped as i looked around. There were pictures of a beautiful elderly lady with a very aristocratic looking man all over the room. The man, i noticed resembled Maan very much. His eyes, his eyes and even his smile.

"They" Maan said "are my parents." I took a deep breath extremely confused. Maan walked over to the window, his back facing me.

"I was never close to them. Ever. My father only ever cared about his business. They died in a plane crash. They were coming to meet me. I feel like it's my fault-their death. Had they not wanted to meet me, they wouldn't have gotten on that plane and would've still been alive. I had confessed my feelings about how i felt they didn't care enough over the phone to my mother on my birthday. Exactly why they wanted to see me." Maan said, his voice filled with the pain of the whole world.

My eyes teared up. For him. But i was confused. Why was he telling me this?

"When Kripa told me that the reason why you were staying away from me was because of Nandini, i understood. All my life, it's all i've been doing too Geet. Sacrificing. Denying my feelings. When i met you, for once i was thinking of myself. Not of anyone else and then you..." He trailed off.

I gulped the frog in my throat.

"I'm sorry Maan. But, Nandini likes you." I told him. Then he turned around and i saw anger and hurt in his eyes.

"She likes me. But i don't like her! I like you!" He snapped. He threw his hands in the air letting out a groan of frustration. "Do you even CARE Geet?" He cried out.
I nodded slowly. "I do." I whispered. He looked at me for a few moments before walking right past me.

"I don't even know what to say to you Geet. When you can think more clearly and actually think of yourself, let me know and then we'll talk." He said before slamming the door shut behind him.

I dropped down on to my knees as tears spilled down my cheeks. What on Earth..
My eyes wandered over to the numerous pictures of Mr. and Mrs. Khurana. My heart broke into little tiny pieces. I finally understood. For Maan, i was like them. After many years, he had started to care for someone and like them, i left him, standing alone. I groaned and shook my head. Why was my life so complicated?

As i stood up, i walked over to a necklace placed on a desk. M. It was definitely Maan's. I touched it lightly and gasped as my eyes clouded. My hands fell on the desk and i was once again, engulfed by another vision.

"Why don't you understand? I love you god dammit!" Maan yelled. The girl whimpered as she stepped away from him. "If you didn't love me, then why did you call me here?" He snapped. And then someone behind him laughed. The same masked man. He laughed as he neared Maan. "Because i told her to." He sneered.

The door fell open and i snapped upright. Kripa stepped in looking at me confused.

"Did Maan talk to you?" She asked me gently putting an arm on my shoulder. I nodded walking out of the door in a daze. In the same, zoned out state, i somehow left Annie's house and walked out in the rain. Just walked. And walked. I was so god damn confused. So confused. What the hell was going on with my life? I didn't even notice that i was walking on to the road. "GEET!" Someone yelled but it was too late. In front of me, at lightening speed, a car came right at me and i felt a searing pain as the car and i came into contact. And then i all I saw was black.
