Okay the news is broken and expected Raya are shocked and upset..Am here to give my two cents about the doctor..
Generally if a mammographic results suggests something, then further detailed tests and biopsy is required to confirm whether the growth is benign or cancerous..A Doctor dosent straight away say upfront to the patient concerned, that its a sign of cancer..
Secondly a physician will gently assuage the patient and at the same time explain in detail about the disease(if its the case) and reassure the patient that its nothing to worry about and until further tests reports are done, nothing is yet confirmed..In India, this is the general trend and there is more emotional assurance of the Doctor towards the patient..There is professionalism in handling the issue-yes, but since its more an emotional shocker, the handling is more personal..
In yesterday' s epi the Doctor was adequate in breaking the news.. But there was clear lack of warmth. I was dissapointed by the way he explained about cancer to Raya.. Neither was his speech clear, nor was his method appreciable..Somehow I felt the CVs missed this point grossly..
At a personal level I have seen and interacted with ordinary General physicians and Oncology experts..When they suspect something, they are very gentle in getting it across to the patient and at the same time are upfront and speak about all possibilities..The Doctors part in the patient's life gains such an importance, that he/she will totally submit their fears, insecurities and happiness in his hands..Some may even think them as GOD capable of bringing Miracles in their lives...
THis serial doctor was woefully lacking in those aspects..This is my POV.. Somehow the man who acted the part of the physician was not up to the mark..Hopefully EK will take care of this matter..
Please comment on my thoughts.. I may be wrong or right.. Is this the way the Doctors handle such cases, outside India? If there are any medicos in our midst here, plese clarify my doubts.. Thanks..

hmm these days the doctors are more into explaining the causes and the medical lingo and he did give the assurance that it is treatable and i am glad he spoke more about the importance as it is supposed to be a csr activity and info needs to get across more !!
however i am glad that ram gave the assurance, i also feel had the doctor been very soft and warm maybe we wouldnt have seen the wonderful scene of support the yearning look of priya when she turned her head to her lone partner, her husband and how he understood her unasked question and grasped her hand firmly as if a sign to the approaching danger that she is not alone and whatever comes he will be her shield!!😳

Hello Maris...Good topic and right observation...
Here is what I wrote on other topic by Fosla...
My Q to Ekta Kapoor..
If you want to show a true cause "BC" do the right justice or show proper steps-protocols..
No 33 yrs young woman has to do Mamogram unless she detacted a lump during self examination or the doctor felt it during a physical exam...Hopefully doctor felt it and so she was sent for Mamogram...Or else no one does Mamogram on a healthy woman w/o a reason.
Even if the lump shows does not mean doctor is to say he has a doubt that it is cancer because specialists think it is cancerous cells...No way any mamogram can show or say that...Radiology expert will say it is lump which could be benign or cancerous but to determine we have to do biopsy of the breast tissue...
All this is not done in one day process...Unless u r RK family and doctor put a rush..
Loved how RaYa handled this news...Doctor should not have broken the news the way he did...He should have simply said...We found a lump in Priya's breast and to determine whether it is benign or cancer we must do biopsy...Not al lumps-tumors are cancerous...There was no need to scare the patient...Yes giving them true candid picture is the right thing...But wait until the biopsy results come back which takes between a wk to 2...Even if the Radiology specialist who performs biopsy sees that most likely it is cancerous still they are not to say so w/o the report...Proper protocol...They could get sued if wrong info is given out..
BTW Tumor-Lump and the details will come out in biopsy report as it will have cancer's grade, stage, size and other details...No way it is considered cancer just by seeing a tumor-lump in a breast on a mamogram..😳
I had tears in my eyes watching both RaYa as they were told and how Ram held her hand...Priya needed simply someone to hold and confort her..How scary it is to hear this news but how devastating it is to learn-hear "You have BC" ...Thank god in this case it is a benign Tumor-lump-syst...
Ekta's doctor was still bit better in BALH compared the doctros she showed on PR...If you want audiance to be aware of something-a cause than do the proper research and educate...
Thanks for reading...It was very emotional episode for me personally as it is very close to my heart..
