Chapter 9
"Anjali Di what are you doing here??" asked Kushi surprised to see Anjali with Abhay.
"Di!! What are you doing here?????" Arnav asked as he came up to the door shocked to find out his sister was at the hotel.
Anjali and Abhay looked at each other wondering why Arnav was at the hotel. This was not something either one of them had been expecting.
"Well are you going to let us in Kushi?" Abhay finally asked breaking the ice.
"Yeah yeah of course.. Come in please" Kushi said as she moved back to let the two into the room.
Anjali and Abhay walked over to the sofa and sat down side by side. Arnav and Kushi sat down on the two chairs opposite the duo. The tension in the room was palpable. No one knew how to start and Abhay took it upon himself to speak first.
"So Kushi, what is it that you wanted to talk to me about?" he asked.
"Why did Arnav send you to Mumbai Abhay?" she asked.
"To keep an eye on things" he said calmly looking at Arnav.
"Why?" she asked.
"Well I don't know.. He never told me and I never really asked him either" he said again
"So what were you told to do?" She asked again
"I was asked to help you run KK Group and teach you about the ways of business" he said.
"So he knew about everything that was happening in Mumbai?" she asked looking at Arnav this time around.
"Yes. He wanted to make sure things were being run smoothly and he wanted to know if something happened"
"Something?? Like what?" she asked
"Well he looked over all the deals that went through, kept all the competitors away, requested updates on you"
"On me?"
"Yeah.He double checked all the deals you made, checked your financials once in away.. You know made sure you found a nice place to live and stuff" Abhay continued on.
"So he asked you to spy on me?????" she asked furiously
"I didn't ask him to spy on you!! Just to keep an eye on you" he said
"Yeah and bought out the building that you live in too.." Abhay said smirking at Arnav
"WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU??????????" Kushi yelled at Arnav.
"Kushi please calm down" Arnav said
"YOU ARE NUTS!!! DO YOU KNOW THAT???? BAT SHIT CRAZY!!!" she continued yelling at him.
Anjali knew things were getting out of control. She slowly stood up and walked over to an angry Kushi.
"Kushi please calm down... Stop yelling and we can explain" she said
"Explain?? Explain what??? Your brother is MAD Anjali Di" she said still furious.
"Kushi we can explain all of this. Please listen to me" Anjali said.
"Wait and how do you know Abhay???" Kushi asked Anjali.
It was Anjali's turn to look worried.
"We were engaged many years ago Kushi" Abhay said
"And why didn't you guys get married?????" Kushi asked Anjali.
"Because he did something despicable and I didn't want him in my life anymore" Anjali said bitterly.
"Ok ok ok.. this is all too much. So ALL of you know each other and then now I know all of you and I don't understand why you all acted as if you didn't know each other at the party???"
"We haven't been on talking terms for many years Kushi" Anjali said
"I need some water" Kushi said and Arnav ran to get her some water. He was back in a few minutes and handed the glass to her. She gave him a steely look and grabbed the glass from his hand. If looks could kill, this one really did it
"Your wearing Ma's bangles" Anjali said in surprise.
"Umm yeah. Your crazy brother apparently put them on last night while I was passed out" she said glaring at Arnav.
"Wait, you two shared this room last night?" Anjali asked with a shocked look on her face
"No Di! I mean sort of.. Kushi wasn't feeling well so she slept in the bed and I slept on the chair to make sure she was ok" he said in small voice
"Yes and this morning he took the liberty of booking the adjoining room for himself" Kushi said scornfully.
"Hold on, if your wearing the bangles... Did Chote propose to you??" She asked Kushi her eyes lighting up.
No one spoke.
"Chote did you propose to Kushi???" Anjali asked still wanting to know what happened
"Sort of.." He said again
"Oh my god Kushi this is amazing!! Congratulations you two!!!" she said about to stand up and walk over to Kushi.
"Anjali Di I haven't accepted the proposal yet" Kushi said still angry at herself for getting into this mess.
"But why not?" Anjali asked her smile disappearing.
"Because your brother has done and said something that I am having trouble getting over. And I can't marry someone that's put me through living hell just for his amusement" Kushi said glaring at Arnav again.
"Kushi, people make mistakes.. I mean he deserves a second chance. He's not a bad guy Kushi. Just hot tempered. EVERYONE deserves a second chance! At least hear him out before you make a decision.." she said looking at Kushi with concern in her eyes.
"Oh really??" asked Abhay suddenly.
"If everyone deserves a second chance, then why don't I get one Anjali?" he asked her.
Arnav and Kushi looked over at Anjali who looked shocked by Abhay's question.
"I mean you didn't give me a chance to explain anything to you now did you. You just went ahead and go re-married and that was it. I was just a forgotten chapter. And today I tried talking to you about what happened and you shut me down" Abhay continued on.
"That's different Abhay!! You left me at the alter.." Anjali finally said
"Yeah because my father threathened to kill my mother and my sister if I married you god damn it!!!"
"WHAT???" Anjali asked
"What the hell did you think my reason was for leaving you?? I didn't care that you were orphaned or about how much money you had Anjali. I wanted to marry you. You're the love my life and I was forced to walk away from you to save my mother's and sister's life. I spent years torturing myself for it and you just moved on!! I thought I was the love of your life as well Anjali and you broke my heart.. Did you really think I was such a shallow person? I haven't looked at another woman since I met you and to this day no one means more to me that you do. But NOOO!!! Second chances are only for your brother. Not for the man that you apparently loved"
No one knew what to say. The focus was suddenly off Kushi and Arnav. Anjali and Abhay were in the spot light. And Abhay just gone on a rant that had surprised everyone.
Kushi slowly got out of the chair and walked over to Arnav leaving Anjali and Abhay sitting on the sofa facing each other.
"Abhay, I had no idea..." Anjali said with tears in her eyes..
"I'm so sorry Abhay, I really didn't know. I'm so sorry.." she said starting to break into tears.
Suddenly Aranv was about to sprint to her side when Kushi grabbed his arm and held him back. This was something Abhay needed to do..
"Anjali please stop crying. I didn't mean to make you so upset. I was just so angry and sad. I am so sorry please stop crying" he said reaching over to Anjali trying to comfort her.
"But I was such an idiot. And then I got married to that man and I just didn't know.." she said sobbing into Abhay's chest as he held on to her and comforted her.
"And now Chote has proposed to Kushi and she has not even accepted. God we're really unlucky with these things in our family.. I think we're cursed" she said crying harder
"No no Anjali don't say that. Those two just need to figure stuff out. Don't worry everything is going to work out. Just stop crying please. I hate seeing you like this" Abhay said stroking her hair and holding her in his arms.
"You promise?" Anjali asked him like a 5 year old
"Yes I promise Anjali.. Now please stop crying." he told her taking her face into her hands and smiling at her.
Abhay then looked at the young couple that stood looking mortified across from them.
"You two better figure this out on your own. Can't you see what it's doing to Anjali? Don't either of you care about her well being?? She's been through so much" he said staring at Arnav and Kushi.
"Kushi, Arnav is not a bad guy. Give him a chance. He only had me "spy" on you as you like to say it is because he cares about you. And Arnav, get your shit together. Your not a teenager anymore and you can't lose your temper the way you do. Your both very important to me and I am sick and tired of the games you guys have been playing with each other. So just deal with it!" he told them both.
"Yes. Please try listening to each other for a change" Anjali piped in.
"I can't marry a man that I barely know. All I know about him is that he loves to make my life a living hell" Kushi said sounding like a child.
"So then get to know each other!!" Abhay said.
"Yes try spending some time with each other..." Anjali added
"I don't want to spend anytime with him!!" Kushi said stubbornly
Arnav was sick and tired of her stubbornness. He knew that she had feelings for him. He had felt it more than once and he was going to make her live up to it. He turned around and grabbed her arms.
"Listen to me Kushi Kumar Gupta. I am sick and tired of your attitude. You and I are going to get to know each other if that's what you need to accept my proposal and that's final. As far as I'm concerned, I'm getting married to you and that's the end of the story. And for your information, I'm not the only crazy person in this room. Have you taken a look at a mirror lately?" he said losing his temper
"I am not going to do it!!" Kushi said.
"Why not??" He asked her agian
"Because I don't want too!!" Kushi said
"Why the hell not????" he asked her
"Because I barely know who you are and I can't marry someone I don't know. And you technically proposed to me when I was drunk!! And then you confess your so called feeling to me after I throw up!! Who the hell does that???????? "
"Does it really matter when I told you how I felt about you?? And you know me very well Kushi. So stop lying to yourself!! What is it going to take for me to convince you that I am not some monster and that I actually love you god damn it?? What the hell is it going to take for you to see the truth????? Or are you afraid huh? Are you afraid of what you feel for me?????" Arnav asked her
Kushi stared at him in silence. She saw so much emotion in his eyes and she wasn't sure what to say to him.
"I don't love you Arnav Singh Raizada!!!" she yelled back at him knowing very well that she didn't mean it. Her heart broke into pieces when she saw the hurt in his eyes.
"Oh but you were in love with me last night?????? Fine then. Your not going to admit it this way. I will prove to you that you and I have something very special Kushi Kumari Gupta. And I will do whatever it takes to make you my wife. Just remember that. So don't try to run away from me" he said letting go of her hands.
Anjali and Abhay watched the two and started bursting out laughing.
"HAHAHAHAHAH.. What the hell is the matter with you two???" Abhay asked laughing so hard that he had tears in his eyes. These two were truly comical.
"Oh Abhay. Aren't they great together??" Anjali asked giggling like a school girl and wiping away her tears.
"They are!! They are made for each other!!!" Abhay said chuckling with Anjali.
"So anyways, I think you guys need to sort this out. So we're going to leave you two to it" Anjali said standing up and grabbing her purse.
"Hey do you want to go grab some brunch?" Abhay asked her as he walked to the door with her.
"Yes that would be nice" she said smiling at him
"Good luck guys" Abhay said as he walked out of the room with Anjali grinning like a school boy. He finally had gotten his second chance with Anjali. He didn't expect her to feel the same way she did about him years ago, but at least he had a chance.
Arnav and Kushi stood there in silence trying to figure out what had just happened..
I don't really know what these 2 are going to do. Just that they are going to butt heads constantly.. You guys have to understand that they have terrible terrible communication skills and its a constant battle of wills. But this is what makes them so much fun. Abhay was inspired by another character that I read on an FF. It's not based on him, but I picked that name because I thought it was such a lovely name :) Also, remember, ARSHI is so much fun because of the chemistry that they create. They fight passionately and they love passionately. That's whats so great about them. Anyhoo, hope you guys like it!!
