I watched some videos of Dhoop Kinare in youtube and I am following the KTLK regularly. Differences are there, and there is a time gap. So both serials cannot be identical in respect of time, human belief, religion is a factor here, i.e.- in India specially in Hindus 18 years of difference is an issue of gossip and people cannot usually accept this kind of age gap. KTLK has lots of defects, no doubt about that, first it was about the Medical profession now they have dragged the Banking sector also. But anyways, I am starting my version of the relationship between Ashutosh and Nidhi.I hope you will not dislike it.

PART 1

It was an evening with cold breeze and chilly shiver, his hands were getting numb. Ashutosh was seeing the passing traffic on the road, he was in his cabin of Dr. Kotnis General Hospital. Almost 40 minutes ago he had a fight with Mallika.

"Just tell me, you will marry me or not?"

" I told you Mallika on the very first day, we are not meant to be together."

"Can you explain why?"

"Does there have to be a reason?"

"There is a reason Ashutosh."

"Then why are you forcing me, if you know the reason then you certainly understand the validity of the reason."

"A girl who is 18 years younger than you, you have fallen for her.."

" Mallika stop, I don't want to discuss anything about it".

"But you cannot marry me , right?"

"How many times you will ask the same question? Now I am being disgusted.."

"Surely you will be disgusted, who is brain-washing you I know that, that girl.."

"The person has a good name Mallika, and don't try my patience, you got that?"

Mallika got out of the cabin after slamming the door.

Ashutosh stood perplexed for some time.Today he cursed Armaan for the first time, he was the one who made him to confess his love for Nidhi.Rangnath entered in the cabin,he was fully aware about the previous encounter. But a call from Anji made him enter into the cabin. This news must reach to Ashutosh.

"Sir, I had a talk with Anji, she told me that Nidhi had confined herself in a cocoon. She is not talking to anyone, she has cut all connection with the outer world, she had refused to eat sometimes."

This was the last thing Ashutosh wanted to hear. But he kept his calm,Rangnath left after not getting any reply.

Many months have been passed. Rangnath still can remember the day when Nidhi joined Dr. Kotnis General Hospital as an intern. Things were so simple and easy to resolve. But she had to stir Ashutosh's hidden emotions. Dr. Ashutosh was a perfect gentleman, he still is.But the man inside him woke up. All thanks to Nidhi. And Mallika, why couldn't she accept that one sided love has no future?

Why so much turmoils took place in their lives? Well, Dr. Ashutosh had a nature like a lake, calm and composed, the pebbles of Nidhi's love created a tsunami in that lake, ironic, but true.

Ashu's eyes were closed, he was thinking about Nidhi.Several months ago he had come to know about Nidhi's reality, who she is actually. She is the grand daughter of Dr. Mathur, the adoptive father of Ashutosh, though he never adopted Ashutosh formally.Dr. Mathur was only a man for the world, but he was the entire world for Ashutosh. He gave fatherly love and affection to orphan Ashutosh. But one day he left, nobody knew where he went, but soon after that, Ashutosh was informed that Dr. Mathur gifted his house to somebody else. The house where Ashutosh and Dr. Mathure made there own world, Ashutosh was not being able to digest that the house did not belong to him anymore.

Actually Ashutosh never thought about the real family of Dr. Mathur, but when Sanivani informed him about everything, he felt helpless.Is it all about blood relation? If so, then why Dr. Mathur never talked to Ashutosh about his real family, real daughter? When Dr. Mathur was disappointed with his daughter, he made a relation with Ashutosh, but in one moment he cut all the connection with him and gifted the house to his blood relatives. Though Dr. Mathur nurtured Ashutosh like his own son, educated him and made him self-sufficient, but still, Ashutosh cannot endure the pain of missing his Baba.

In accordance of the deal of the house, Col. Verma and Nidhi were introduced to him as the real family of Baba, Nidhi was Baba's grand daughter who was the owner of the house. It was more than a shock to Ashutosh.Both of them, didn't miss the pale faces of each other.

Ashutosh told Armaan about the every details. He summarily rubbished all the arguments.

"All crap, your Baba never talked about his family, you never knew about their existence, suddenly you become her uncle where you was not adopted by your Baba in a legal way, cut the crap Ashu. One mere fact cannot change everything. What is more real? The relation about whom nobody was aware or the feelings you have for her..damn it..total rubbish.."

Ashutosh felt guilty about his feelings for Nidhi.Being a man, he cannot deny that, he had fantasies about her too, that embarrassed him the most.In any case , in a conventional way his feelings about Dr. Nidhi was forbidden, but human being has a craving for those things which are forbidden.Every desirable thing is somehow forbidden.Ashutosh tried his best to avoid Nidhi. But some people are there, whom you love or hate, choice is yours but by any means you cannot ignore them.Thus Ashutosh found it impossible to ignore her.She used to make him feel her presence despite of her absence effortlessly.She still does it, effortlessly.

Nidhi was staring at the roof. Her eyes and face had no expression, they lacked any kind of emotion.She was engrossed in her own guilt. Because of her nobody is happy. When she fell in love with Dr. Ashutosh , she did not think of any other thing, any other person. She only knows how she had survived after knowing the full identity of Dr. Ashutosh.Her grandfather's not legally adopted son. The grandfather, whom she never met, who was totally insignificant in her life, suddenly started to play havoc in her life.Nidhi could realise Mallika's agony, but she couldn't help but falling in love with Ashutosh.

Anji came in the room, switched on the light.

"Nidhi, come on, get out of the room, why are you punishing yourself? Let it be Nidhi..it will pass like any other thing."

Nidhi couldn't take it anymore, she broke into tears.Anji felt helpless and sad.

"Nidhi, it happens, people make mistake , it was just the outcome of your suppressed emotions for him, we all are human being, sometimes our elements make us to do such things.."

Col. Verma can realise now the feeling of Dr. Mathur. Once Mathur's daughter left him for Col. Verma, now Col. Verma's daughter is on the same path, how a father feels when him daughter goes on that way which is the most unwanted thing for him.

" Baba, I love him"

"You are on wrong way of life Nidhi, not in love, this relation will be highly reprehensible in society"

"Baba , I am not a child, I am 26, I know what I am doing .."

Dadi Bua was stunned by Nidhi's action.

"Nidhi, what you have done? For this day I brought you up with so much love and affection? Are you out of your mind? You have no right to disgrace us in the society like this. What people will say?" Old lady said with tearful eyes.

To rescue Nidhi, Ashutosh met Col. Verma.He took all the bad words and insult, Nidhi was crying silently.

"She is young, immature, what got into you Dr. Ashutosh?"

It was when they only knew that Nidhi and Ashutosh have fallen for each other, Dr. Mathur's connection didn't come in the scene yet.

"I promise you Sir, her life won't get ruined"..

Hiraman Kaka was looking at him, his face had no colour. He was just playing with the food, his mind was somewhere else.

"Don't punish yourself, get her back in your life and in this house.."

" Not possible Kaka, I cannot have her in my life.."

"Then why didn't you stop yourself on the very first moment?"

" Things got out of my hands.."

" Why do you think like that? You can be happy with her only, she can be happy with you only, then be with her.."

" What about the people?"

" People? What would they do?" Where were those people when you were in deep agony? They have other things to do. For those useless people you deprived and despised your own life?"

"What about her father?"

"What about her Ashutosh? Have you ever thought about that?"

" Please, leave me alone, I cannot take it anymore.."

Suddenly the door bell rang. Kaka opened the door, and it was Nidhi who entered without any preface and went straight to the kitchen.Ashutosh froze by seeing Nidhi. The day when he discovered about her identity, Ashutosh felt like vomiting , Ashutosh refused to meet her, to recognize her again.Now, Hiraman Kaka shrugged his shoulder and smiled at Ashutosh.Later, at night, Ashutosh was in his bedroom, trying to read a medical journal, fully aware that Nidhi was seated on the bed.She was waiting for Ashutosh, she wanted him to speak first.

"You should not have come here"..

Nidhi was expecting something like that.She said, "Where else am I supposed to go then?"

"Your father is not well , and you are upseting him more.."

"Is it about my father or your own lack of interest in me?"

"You know very well about my interest in you, but right now, you must act consciously, anyways , have a good sleep.."

"You are not coming to bed?"

"On what purpose?"

"You must know the purpose, this is not the first time.."

"I have several journals to read..."

Nidhi didn't argue anymore, she laid on the bed, switched off the night lamp.

Ashu stared at her for long time.It has been long time. Initially he used to resist himself, but his inner element clearly betrayed him, they became rebel, clearly they said ," You may surrender, but we will have everything we need, you cannot stop us."

When Allahabad High Court passed the landmark judgment in Payel Sharma case, obviously the adjoining cities will have a shake because of this judgment. Justice Markandeya Katju, one of the finest Judge India has ever produced, gave the landmark verdict ,"If two single persons have attained the age of majority,they can live together, no law can stop them. Live in relationship may be immoral but not illegal."

Dr. Mallika taunted Nidhi by asking her opinion in this case.

"So, Dr. Verma, what is your stand in this issue? Shouls this kind of forbidden relation get encouragement by law?"

"Ma'm, why are you sounding so shallow?"

Other people fell dead silent, Nidhi went on ," If two persons want to stay together, who are not bound by any other commitment, then they must be left on their own, and what is forbidden? Who will forbid them?You? What is the extent of your right to stop them?"

Well, Nidhi stood by her opinion, Ashutosh can say that, she gave a damn to Mallika's "forbidden" theory.

Ashutosh was engrossed in past, suddenly he heard Nidhi's voice, she did not sleep either.

"You know what..you should have been married very earlier.."

"You were not there..to whom I was supposed to get married then?"

"It's not about me, if you would have married Dr. Mallika 10 years ago, then by this time you would have a full family, then we wouldn't have to be involved in this way.."

"Are you regretting about our relation, well our relation is neither illegal nor immoral, we had a civil marriage, that is another issue that we don't live together.."

"Well..for that there must be a declaration of this marriage.."

"Let your father recover a little..I will do something.. trust me.."

In the morning, Kaka was watering the garden, suddenly Mallika appeared, he hasitated to welcome her inside the house, but he thought Mallika must see the reallity about Ashu and Nidhi's relation.This woman is playing havoc in their life, Nidhi has suffered a lot..

"Arre..Mallika Beti..let me finish with the garden , why don't you sit in the drawing room, I will make some breakfast for you.."..

"Sure Kaka"..said Mallika..

After entering in the drawing room, she decided to surprise Ashutosh.She saw that the door was not locked, it was slightly opened..

However, Nidhi was in Ashu's arms..the room was smelling like lavender. In front of the dressing table, they were standing, Ashutosh was pretending to set a necklace on her neck, slowly his hand were going to her waistline, to give him a better access, Nidhi was holding him by his neck and caressing his hair, Ashutosh was kissing her as if he is never going to have the chance to kiss her again..they missed their sleep at night also.

Mallika entered in the room with long strides..and saw the scene..they were shocked, but soon they regained their calm.Mallika looked at the bruised lips of Nidhi, the dislocated clothes, she didn't miss the bruise on Ashu's ear and neck either.
