On What Brings Abhishek Immense Joy

What makes Abhishek the happiest these days is greeting his little daughter and 'talking' to her after a hard day's work. In the absence of a name for the baby, the papa addresses her as 'bitiya'. Says Abhishek, "Aishwarya is doing a fantastic job as mother. I think she wants to enjoy every moment of motherhood, so it's unlikely that she will return to acting very soon. But I'm sure, she would continue acting. I am the last person to stop her."

On Players

"I agreed to do Players even before hearing one word of the script. That's because I had been dying to work with (directors) Abbas-Mustan. That is why when they came to me to narrate the subject, I shook hands with them and said even before they could begin the narration, 'Main ye film kar raha hoon. Aap kahani sunaye ya na sunaye' (I am doing your film, irrespective of whether you narrate the script to me or not)."

"That Players was a remake of The Italian Job was such a great bonus since Micheal Kane's 1969 film used to be one of my favorites when I was studying in the US."

That is sad news for me!! All the best for Aishwarya!! But I want to hear it from Aishwarya herself in a interview!! Why from Abhi!! This is kinda getting annoying now lol sorry can't help it. It is all Abhi and Big B?

He just became a father. Obviously media will be asking about it. And he is politely answering them. I don't see the big deal.

But what I fail to understand is how the average moviegoer will be influenced to watch Players just because Abhishek talks about his daughter and wife! 😆

They might be influenced...the average movie goer will be told there is a film called players up for release on so and so date. So the movie goer will now know about the existence of a film called Players. Knowing about the existence of a film is called 'buzz' which is very important to draw audiences to the cinema hall especially on the first weekend when films do maximum business.

Straight forward but expensive ways to generate buzz-Interesting trailers, item numbers, chartbusting songs, stars promote the film on TV, media interactions, stars visit different cities attending events to promote the film among fans, have an interactive website on the film etc.

Inexpensive but sureshot way to generate buzz is have some controversy like stars having an affair(Ranbir-Nargis for Rockstar, SRK-PC for Don2), someone dragging the makers to court over some issue or time a personal event close to a release. Media covers the controversal stuff and also mentions the film to be released free of cost. This is the oldest trick in the book much before publicists came into vouge. One very famous example of using a personal event to publicize a film was Big B's accident during shooting of a film Coolie. The film was crap but public flocked to the theaters to watch scene where he was injured.
