There are some countries today that have some kind of compulsory enrollment in military like for example at age of 17-18 all boys should enroll in military training, just incase in time when their country need them to fight for. Some country also term it as "National Service" and it usually is training for 1 or 2 years.

Do you think it is morally ok for a country to ask citizen to entroll for a compulsory military program. Do you think there are more benifits or more loss in having such policy for a country? Is it good or bad?

I don't know abt any other country... i didn't get any military training myself... but my mom and eldest sister were able to have that... it helped my mom to save people.. i mean the training was a complete package : From jumping from high buildings/points to give medical care, from firing a bullet to saving a precious life .. it was all!!! And mom tells me that at war times she was able to manage all... my sis knows the bullet shots, etc and the medical care too... I think we should call it "Self-defence" becoz the citizens aren't going anywhere else but such trainings basically help in natural calamities (GOD Forbid) too..

As far as the USE of such a training is constructive, I say just go for it! But if in negative aspect then no.. but we do have pros and cons of everything .. so why just abandon a skill which can be used in the hour of need? It is the equipment of an average person and I have heard a positive side .. people can even make a bomb out of salt, but so far we haven't stopped consuming salt!! 😊

I think it's a good idea.Especially here in india where the urban youth largly has become irresponsible and take too many things for granted. Some discipline would certainly amount to a good head on their shoulders.

MNMS, I am mostly talking about boys who have to undergo this training. Like in Finland they 've this compulsory training and they teach them how to shoot, and make them practice how to play "real war". If you want it or not. I know that it is helpful at times, but then do you think that boys who wants to be a doctor or eng. or architect or drive a bus or mailman need to spend their 2 yrs in such training?

In India, US they don't have such compulsory service training so far. I am not sure if it should be made compulsory or not. There are pros and cons on both sides. These training are not as detailed as regular military training, but cover lot of aspects from it so that when country is attacked or anything any regular citizen can hold a gun and help country.

You know i think compulsory millitary training may be a good idea. In the U.S people have more National pride and strong patriotic feelings.

In India i think we don't have means to express it correctly. It is a duty of every country man to defend his country in times of war. And war preparedeness could be a good idea for even India while times are such .

I think enforcing such trianing would instil some discipline and would accord a young mind the right balance to grow into a well rounded citizen. Think about it. These days you study your teen years away buried in books with all the competition around trying to fashion a career for your self.
2 years of such training would be just the thing to decentralize the focus that youths have. Otherwise one grows into something like out of our generation - people with a 21 inch view of wars and disasters.

aahaan .. right sowmyaa di .. i got it now!!😳😉.. From wht i heard from my mom abt wars and its side/after effects .. and wht goes on an average man during that catastrophe.. i think that its very beneficial regardless of wht an individual's ambition is ... see, if i visualize a war, to me every person whether boys, man, women, children .. anybody is a soldier ... and when equiped with such a training, it helps in the hour of need.. or for that matter a natural calamity (God Forbid) like storm, tsunami, earthquake .. as the person knows wht to do in crisis situation and he/she has got some physique which is crucial in such cases.. he can save other lives as well.. so i have got a positive vote on this 😊
