Yami Gautam to act with Prithviraj

Chathisgarh lass Yami Gautam has confirmed that she will be playing the lead role opposite Prithviraj in Deepan's upcoming movie, Hero.

South Indian hotties, Trisha, Shriya Sharan and Amala Paul, were all umoured to be in the reckoning but they all apparently didn't want to give dates in bulk for the movie which will be shot in a single schedule.

Yami Gautam is a popular face in the television industry. Scripted by Vinod Guruvayoor, the film will also feature Sreekanth, Bala, Thalaivasal Vijay and Nedumudi Venu.

Puthiya Mukham director Deepan has also announced another project, Newsmaker, with Mammootty playing the role of a journalist.

Prithvirajs Hero finally gets a heroine

The producers of the movie have roped in TV actress and ad model Yami Gautam after Shriya Saran backed out due to scheduling conflicts

The hunt for a heroine to play the lead in Prithviraj's Hero has finally ended. After zeroing in on several A-list South Indian actresses, the producers have now locked in a relatively new face with Punjabi actress Yami Gautam.

Director Deepan had initially approached Trisha for the role but she had to back out due to scheduling conflicts after which Shriya Saran was confirmed to have landed the part. But now even she has followed suit.

"Shriya had date issues. We needed an actress who would give us 35 consecutive days but she could only accommodate 15 days at a stretch, which does not work for this movie," says Deepan.

The Puthiya Mukham director says the team chose a new face instead so the movie does not get delayed further.

Yami is a noted TV actress and an ad model who has featured in the Fair 'N Lovely and KFC Krushers commercials. After having acted in the Telugu flick Nuvvila and the Kannada movie Ullasa Utsaha, she is now gearing up to make her Bollywood debut opposite VJ and TV anchor Ayushmann Khurrana in Shoorjith Sircar's Vicky Donor.

Her Mollywood debut will see Prithviraj playing an assistant stunt director with Tamil actor Sreekanth, of Parthiban Kanavu fame, playing a negative character.

The action thriller, scripted by Vinod Guruvayoor, will also star Bala, Arun and Thalaivasal Vijay, and is scheduled to begin filming by Dec 26.

So it is a Malayalam movie after all! I thought it was a Tamil film with Prithviraj.

Yami Gautam is the heroine in Hero

The shooting of Prithviraj's Hero has started in Kochi.

The film is being directed by Deepan, who has earlier directed the hit film, Puthiya Mugham. Yami Gautam, a law student from Chandigarh, is the heroine in the film.

She has done a Telugu and a Hindi movie. She had also done the ad campaign for 'Kalyan Silks', along with Prithviraj.

She is in fact playing an actress in the story and the beautiful girl says that she is enjoying her stint in Mollywood.

"Of course, Malayalam language is really tough to learn but I hope some interesting roles are offered to me," says she.

Yami Gautam says that she had no real plans to become an actor but the stint in showbiz happened just by chance.

Now that some fantastic offers are coming her way, she hopes to make it big in tinseldom.
