Films which you found offensive

hey all

okay so this topic is abt films that offended you...maybe they were regressive, sexist, racist, or had really twisted ideologies tht u didnt agree with one bit...

so name some films with scenes/songs that u found offensive to a particular gorup in the society...for whtever reason..okay mine would be:

Raja ki aayegi baraat : Rani's first film i think..really bad b grade film...but i was starting to think...well, atleast the female character is nice n strong n progressive...WRONG...so this is wht happens in the movie: rani is sharp mouthed and she puts a jerk to shame..Jerk in anger rapes her...she goes to the court to fight for justice...wht does the court do??? "The only way the girl would get her honour back is by marrying the guy"...so the court gets her married to the rapist...coz thts the only way she remains pure...🤢..I was so friggin offended i switched it off right there and didnt bother to finish the movie...apparently they fall in love in the end...🤢🤢🤢

Vivah: I just dunt get why Poonam is so devoid of personality...all tht "inner strength" she posessed never came across...plus, throughout the movie, her character is valued more coz shes "pretty and fair and dolicle" rather than the fact that shes educated, responsible, disciplined etc.. I found tht so regressive and stupid...and they kept putting her poor sister down coz she was "kaali", nevermind the fact tht she's spunky, opinionated, cheerful and fun coz all tht just pales in comparison to her skin colour...😕

KKHH : rahul never shows any interest in anjali all throughout their college years (of course coz shes tomboyish and such a jhalli pulli looking girl). Dosent bother to find out where she is after they part. Suddenly, he sees her in a saree and is all turned on? 😕...yes because girls with short hair and no makeup can never get the guy to fall in love with them......and i couldnt believe tht they kept glorigying rahul as the "ultimate lover boy" when he was just a pushy manipulative bride snatching jerk who goes and cries in front of the girl on her wedding day...I would have slapped rahul if i was anjali, and got married to Aman instead.

Yaadein - Rich people BAD..poor people GOOD...Hrithik is good despite being rich because hes been bought up in hostels with "middle class values" by jackie shroff and his wife. And clearly, the monishka girl is evil because she dosent want kids straight after marriage

Namaste London, Pardes : Indians GOOD, westener's BAD...so everyone bought up anywhere other than india is BAD, gets involved in drugs, flings, one night stands, are either ill informed jerks or sleazeballs, while the one bought up in india is doodh ka dhula

thts my list so far...what films did u guys find offensive and why? 😛

Movies like No Entry, Masti that glorify extra marital affairs and guys who successfully manage two women.

I also find movies/serials like KHNH where a girl with specs means=nerdy=not attractive. Once she takes off those glasses and opens her hair the whole city falls for her.

In Film, A English Insults INDIA & His People, that's where Akki Tells him What INDIA really is, Both the movies never showed as Kids who r brought Abroad are BAD, In Pardes, SRK is from Abroad, In Namaste London - Akki won Katy's Heart not just he is indian brought here, He wins her heart coz being an Indian still going in Other Country HE Respect them 1st and if Misbehaved Teach them What is the real way of making fun.

Just for 2-3 Instance, y u r taking a whole picture of both the movies... Salaam Namaste - Both Hero n Heroine are ABROAD - So does that make them bad/gud kind?? No...

As if before these Movies there were No Extra Marital Affair, only after these movies all started 2 date other women?? is it???

I think Movies just pick up Everyday activities and they show in light n humorous manner... as they themselves have families, how could they promote such thing on serious level which even their home could be destroyed on same issue...

All movie stereotyping South Indians as Madrasis esp Ra One. for starters South india comprises of 4 states.
and Seriously none of us mix curd with Spaghetti and eat it with our hands.
And sorry to break it to Bollywood, South indians actually speak good english and that too without thick accent.

Is Madrasis is a Bad word?? 😲

Not to mention how many South Indian Technicians are working in Bollywood - A.R.Rahman, Mani Ratnam 2 name a few, y wud Bollywood Movies will make fun of one of India's Finest Talent Area?

Yep South Indians find the word Madrasis offensive. First off all there is no race called Madrasis, you are either a Tamilian, Malayalee, telugu speaking or Kannadiga. If we cant be referred by separate name, the easiest is calling someone South indian. How tough is that?

Also making fun of our eating habits is pretty offensive. Yes we eat curd on a daily basis, why because South india is generally very hot & humid, yoghurt helps you keep hydrated. That doesnt mean we mix curd with every godforsaken dish on earth.

Seriously, no one would ear curd with sphagetti unless its a buffoony character potrayed by SRK.

I may be wrong, but thing which i know in this context is, this word comes like we have

Punjab = Punjabi

Gujrat = Gujraati

Bengal = Bangali

Maharashtra = Marathi

Same way in 80's or may be 90's, Madrasi word came coz there was city named Madras at that time. I can't say for sure, but i know this it was not used 2 make fun, as it was just to name person come from that city.

Haven't seen Ra.One, so can't say about SRK Act...

Very true, but how can people from 4 different state be called by the same name? And as time has gone by I tend to find that people relate the name madrasi to 'dark skinned south indians, eating idly sambar and curd using hands, speaking with heavy accents and wearing bright clothes 24 x7.

If you see Ra One you will understand the reason as to why I find it offensive.
