the point of debates is not to simply change ur mind, it is to accept that another view exists and while u might not agree with it, u have to respect it.
mkzara... ur post is urging me to spill out my heart, my mind! And whtever i'll be saying.. its direct from my heart... and I am not being even a little bit diplomatic here..
Ok .. now lets be clear and straight forward.. u are talking abt people in this forum not so open to debates regarding different religions' differentiating factors .. or if they are debating then we fear that it might turn into an ugly non-ethical fight.. mkzara, it does happen sometimes ... Or if not an un-ethical fight.. it does lead to disagreements and anger...Inside!
Religion being an OVER-SENSITIVE issue is not suitable for a place like DM.... talking abt myself.. I don't like to participate in such debates. where the thing seems to be lost all the time... and merely pointing fingers at others religion that why it is so conservative.. and why it is like that.. why it is so different from the religion I follow.. why it isn't secular.. why do people belonging from a particular religion do this.. do that..Why aren't they secular ..follow a particular law .. or not...why do people belonging from an Islamic state think this.. and non-Islamic don't think this and think that... and attitude of people in this state or that ... .. etc. etc. etc.... Im sick of it!!!!!!! I hate this attitude from the core of my heart!!... and i crush my jaws to death without being obvious !!! And they are SURE hurting my feelings and ME .. and my thinking towards such people changes.. even if i loved them b4... or liked them initially b4 such a discussion.. .... People don't simply understand that they have to respect a religion's laws, and they don't at times.... no matter how curious they are... if they are serious in Learning, then I repeat again... do research urself.... find out... It is very very easy to point fingers and ask... but very difficult to actually know...
It was the post "Blind Faith" in which Dazlingflower asked exclusively me abt my religion - Islam... I read that post 4-5 times b4 answering... And found that DF doesn't wish to just debate or point finger at Islam.. but wants to learn from my reply, the point of view from my religion... and only this was the reason why i replied to the post.. otherwise if it was just a debate or something else... i would have stepped-out saying that im not in a position to answer (despite having a quite sound knowledge abt Islam abt each and every question DF asked... i did answered some of DF's questions.. but i left the others that she should do a research herself to find out.. and deliberately I pointed a finger to myself of being ignorant abt some concepts of Islam..Plus it is difficult for me to communicate a non-Muslim abt the laws of my religion in correct context and correct method... Failure in doing so will leave the other person confused and double-minded abt my religion -which i don't wish to do) !! Till date.. I found DF being the most secular person on this forum who doesn't make statements of being secular!!š ... She is secular at heart...!! Despite being a teenager I am mature enough to sense wht a person is trying to say and in wht style.. wht attitude... or wht the intentions of a particular person are...
Here comes the argument :Why i can't have a "freedom of speech" on a religion?? Ok... have the freedom and then deliberately hurt the feelings of hundreds of the followers of that particular religion u are talking abt Even if u have no such intentions, but u r doing so in ur speech... by placing arguments or saying something/ anything against abt a religion's law... Even if a follower explains it and clears it... People still don't stop doing that!! I ask again... Am i here to all the time do clarification of my religion... WHY??? Why don't people who are asking questions do a research themselves if they don't know a particular concept of any religion????? They are ignorant abt my religion... so why don't they find out themselves abt my religion if they are seriously curious to learn !!....If they get to know abt the law of a religion- then DON'T COMMENT ON IT!! Nobody is asking u that plz have an opinion or view on it.......U have simply nothing to do with that... It is a law... the law of a religion... Respect it... Like u respect ur religion's laws... respect other religion's laws toooooo.. Don't discriminate here!!
True.. debates on religious topics are not meant to convince somebody... but they DO lead to different UNINVITED opinions on the religion... I, for one, will not tolerate anybody saying abt my religion that " Ohh.. this law doesn't seem justified to me.. becoz its not wht i do in my religion or my country... so it should be like this... or u should do this.." then Even some people twist it.. and then justify their twisting....I myself never pointed fingers on anyone's religion here, check my record!!! It is un-ethical for me to do so...It is a self-imposed restriction that I have on myself for the intention of not hurting anyone by saying anything abt their religion and even giving my opinion on their laws... and Who am I to do that????.. i will never ever forgive myself if i do so .. So Heck!!!!! Wht is going on here....???????? Is my religion just a game for people to play with it??? NO...SIMPLY NO!!!!! I , At least I, Will NEVER EVER TOLERATE IT... Even if for that i have to leave India-Forums... I will happily do that Having NO regrets at all! I am a Muslim... I follow Islam ...and im proud of it!!
Plus... if during such debates... anyone tries to bring out the truth abt the "targeted religion" and gets offended due to people's uninvited opinions ... in turn that person is labeled as "Fanatic"!! Wht is the Heck going on?????? ... Do any of my posts reflect me being fanatic...AM I fanatic if I oppose wht people think wrongly abt my religion... ??? Is that the un-spoken rule here???????????? I know the DM's and IF's code-of-conduct ... but in religious topics... its bit of an unspoken rule...
Finally, I thank Javs from the core of my heart for taking this step and changed the policy.....Bravo Javsš... it was needed.... I am happy on thisš
