I used to be lost

So lost on the pathway of life

But I didn't wait

For anyone to come along, find me

I walked on, found a ways to go

For I knew it was pointless

In this day, this world

To want to belong

Amidst all the countless races

That ruled all lives

To go where, no one knew

So on I went

I had been taught well

To smile through it all, heaven or hell

I kept going, searching

Along the way were smiles

Not enough to go by

Just a few

But I took them with me

And gave a few, too

Then I found you

And I could breathe

There was joy

Laughs and smiles

Even tears, but those

Were precious in a way too

For those moments I had with you

Were to be snatched from me

For a selfish few

Was this why I was led to you

To be yours for a moment,

Then lose you?

And they all came up on me

Fate ganged up too,

I was no longer free

Had nowhere to turn to

And I ran from you

Oh, folly

I left my heart behind

I wept, too once, twice

And then again

Till there were no tears left

They deserted me too

And then you came out of the mist

Held out your hand

You pulled me out

Held me close, so close

And I knew

I knew why I traversed the path

I knew why I went through

All that life had thrown at me

I had to, for at the end of the old road

Was my destination

And my way beyond to life, too

It was all for the one treasure in my life

The haven and the way beyond

Were one and the same : you...
