The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women will be commemorated

on 25 November
That date also marks the start of the 16 Days of Activism that will lead up to Human Rights Day on 10 December.
This campaign reminds us that violence against women is one of the most widespread human rights abuses in all countries. Individuals, organizations and institutions across the world are being called on to organize a special event during this period in a bid to put an end to violence against women.
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's
Message for the International Day for the
Elimination of Violence against Women
25 November 2011

"Violence against women and girls takes many forms and is widespread throughout the globe. On this International Day, I urge governments and partners around the world to harness the energy, ideas and leadership of young people to help us to end this pandemic of violence. Only then will we have a more just, peaceful and equitable world."
This date came from the brutal assassination in 1960 of the three Mirabal sisters, political activists in the Dominican Republic, on orders of Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo
the sisters had become a symbol of freedom in that country.
The sisters were known as
Las Mariposas/ The Butterflies

the brutal beating and killing of these brave women lead to fall of dictatorship in their country

United Nations The UN invited governments, international organizations and NGOs to organize activities designated to raise public awareness of the problem on this day as an international observance day. Women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence, and the scale and true nature of the issue is often hidden
Crazy creatives team would like to salute all women out there who are contributing greatly to make world a safer place for future generations
We invite you to share your thoughts about this day and what action you would like to see
to make world a better place for everyone

Violence does never do any good at all. No one has the right to beat, hurt or rape anyone. No husband has the right to do that to his wife, no father or brother have this right over the daughter or sister. There is no right to do this. I hope one day everyone in the world will recognise this and live according to this truth

Thank you ver much for this post

The united nation general assembly defines "violence against women" as "any act of gender-based violence that results in, or is likely to result in,physical, mental harm or suffering to women, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether occurring in public or in private life.Hence we must unite against this act
thanks for this topic dear

Great post👏👏 and a great cause.
Violence against is women is alive and well all over the world...it is not limited to just the so-called underdeveloped or developing countries...and not perpetrated against just the poor, powerless, exploited class of women...it is everywhere. And it is a criminal shame.
Recently, we lost a beautiful, dynamic, incredible lady to a senseless, violent fit of her husband...and this reality hit home.
Please, everyone...do what you can to support this cause.

Good post Sami ... a topic we all should look seriously into !

Women have been at the receiving end for centuries. The generation, the era, the society, the status of the women, may be different, but violence against women has remained unchanged.

In the olden days, when wars were fought, women were one of the main 'spoils' of war, and the victors did as they pleased with the women of the losing side. This was in the ancient times and is still true in today's world. We only have to look towards Rwanda, Serbia, Bosnia etc etc to see how true this is.

Then there is the chilling reality of honor killings, domestic violence, rape, trafficking ... violence in different forms, all equally inhuman and despicable.

Concerted effort is need at all levels to fight this atrocity. Starting from a family, a neighborhood, a state to a country, there should be zero tolerance for the perpetrators of these crimes. Justice should be swift and the guilty punished.

Finally, women should come together and support their kind openly without fear or favour, thus making the world a safer and beautiful place for womenkind !

Violence and in particular the domestic violence against women can be found to exist in any corner of the world ... So much so that it rubishes away prenotions like today the world has gone ahead and such volience exists in only uneducated or uncivilized culture ... Sadly its witnessed even today in civilized and educated, even reputated, societies 👎🏼 You never know it might just be happening in your neighbourhood too

Personally I dont think there is a stop to it unless the victims gather their own strength and raise their voice ... and not only raise it once but stay firm till they get justice and freedom off this ill treatment ... esp in high societies where its considered better to hide such crime under the blanket of reputation! Violence gains nothing but pain to the one taking it and later also to the one committing it ... At the end of the day if there isnt any use to it then why just do it in fit of anger or temptation?

Women and girls are an integral part of this society and have a right to live their own life independently free of fear and suffering just like men ... This is what the entire world needs to realise first and foremost!
