But what made me laugh a lot today are certain ppl who cant help but say bad things about Kat EVERY TIME!😆 Its sooo funny, I cant stop laughing!

She also wasn't the leading lady in Bodyguard .. so wasn't that her first "official" item song .. unless she's done another one before that I can't remember.

Practically anything/everything Katrina touches these days turns to gold soOo I'm sure Hrithik/Karan and whoever else is involved is just over the moon..and it doesn't hurt that Katrina and Hrithik got positive reviews together in ZMND.. probably hoping some of that hype/excitement carries over to Agneepaath.

God, I hope for Hrithik's sake (and Priyanka's) that this movie does well.

The filmmaker talks about the 'major' Agneepath item number and how the actress has helped him out with it

For the first time Dharma Productions is all set to incorporate an item song in their film. Previously their film Kaal had a promotional track. However, that never got incorporated in the film. And this time, Katrina Kaif is all set to groove to the special number composed by Ajay-Atul in Karan Malhotra's directorial venture Agneepath. And needless to say, producer Karan Johar is pretty excited about it all.
When contacted, KJo told Mumbai Mirror, "Katrina is doing a major item number in Agneepath. The song will feature Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt as well. We are extremely happy to have Katrina on board. We needed a big star for the song. The song comes at a very crucial time in the film. And I think Ajay-Atul have done a wonderful job of it."
Speaking about having a full-fledged item number in a Dharma venture, KJo added, "This will be the first item song. Basically, the song is integral to the film. The screenplay demands a song like this. It is situational."
When asked about the reports on Kareena Kapoor being approached for the same item number earlier, KJo said, "Well, Katrina is doing it and let's talk about Katrina now. This is the first time she is working in a Dharma Production film. And this is also the biggest film by the production house right now. Katrina will start rehearsing for the song today. She is being extremely co-operative."
Talking about the item number and its competition, Karan added, "I think by far Chammak Challo is the best song of the year. Without revealing too much about our Agneepath number, I can say that it will be a total dhamaal number. It has everything that a chartbuster requires."
