Ra.one was sort of inspired by Ramayan..but I know what you mean...Srk says people do not use mythological superheros because they have sentimental and religious significance attached to them!

We don't need to emulate western superhero concept, we have a treasure trove of interesting stories and characters buried in the ancient texts of India, Mahabharata has hundreds of stories besides the main story itself... ofcourse, you need someone who can competently execute such movies.

A superhero movie need

• good story
• character you can relate to
• badass villian
• special effects

If these conditions are met ,then there is a chance.
And also india has comics books too.
