Samir Soni gets candid

How similar are you to Kunal Chopra, the character you portray in Parichay?
I am personally related to the character at some level. There are a lot of layers in the character.
You are finally working with Ekta!
I know Ekta since a long time; but finally I had the dates and she has the role that excites me. It's great to work with her. This show is her brain child; so hats off to her for coming up with a concept like this and making a male-centric TV show.
The show looks quite different from the serials Ekta Kapoor normally produces.
Ekta always finds something different to produce. She is the one who started the television revolution with her saas-bahu serials. Also, another of her current shows, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain has her exploring the concept of love between an older couple.
Your luck seems to be turning after your recent marriage to Neelam.
She is a special part of my life. I always believe that marriage is a turning point of a person's life. I am not a very social person so for me to have a life partner like Neelam is great. It's also good for someone who has been from the same profession.
You said you are a not a social person. How do you spend your time when you are not shooting?
I am a very boring person. I spend time with my wife and watch movies. Sometimes, we go for long drives or meet friends for dinner. We are a very quiet couple. She has a short temper; but I don't get angry too soon and even if I get angry, I can't remain angry for long (laughs).
What does your immediate future look like?
I have just finished shooting for a film with John and Chitrangada. Thanks to this show, I don't have time because television takes up 25 days of a month.
