It is with a profound sense of disappointment that we announce that Mausam's leading man will be dropping out of attending this year's Toronto International Film Festival where it is still scheduled to premiere tomorrow evening.
It is indeed a sad state of affairs - the prestigious platform that was, now is a no go for the Shahid. Tweeting moments ago he said "Going to iaf tomorrow in delhi to show them MAUSAM ... Fingers crossed and hoping for the best," which would mean tiff is definitely not on the cards for him.
This would be the second time Shahid has been a no-show and skipped out on attending the festival.
A chock-a-block press day was planned to showcase the film at the festival - starting off with a Press Conference followed up by a Red Carpet Premiere closing off with an Exclusive Afterparty.
Great anticipation and tremendous excitement was building for it's world premiere in Toronto where both Shahid and Sonam Kapoor were scheduled to walk the red carpet at the historical Elgin theatre in downtown Toronto looking their dapper and darned prettiest.
The film which was scheduled for a September 16 release worldwide has now been pushed forward and postponed to September 23 after finally getting the green light from the Censor Board following concerns raised by the Indian Air Force.
Unfortunately troubled weather have been part and parcel for Mausam. It has been a tumultuous go of things for the project which has encountered numerous troubles already with the film's music launch in London, music celebration in Mumbai, tribute to Michael Jackson in New York have all had to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
The heaviest sense of dejection would that of the hoards and hoards of Shanatics, Sonaholics and Mausambees who were all waiting with baited breath for this once in a lifetime opportunity.
We are extremely fond of Sonam and Shahid both and have had the utmost pleasure of interviewing them both for Mausam.
Although we ourselves are saddened by this recent development our best of wishes are with them and the entire team of Mausam for their labour of love which we hope soars above the dark clouds and gloomy weather that have curtailed it's flight thus far - afterall it is after the darkest hour that comes the brighest spurt of sunshine.
We'll surely keep you posted as this story develops.
