Yea I know its a show but can people drastically change on their own views of their culture after just 2 years
From the way Kastur viewed Mohan as a simple sweet nice guy, its hard to imagine that in 2 years he'd be disgusted by Gujurati/Indian culture
Its as if he had ZERO contact with his family while he was abroad and then therefore just spent his time completely apart from any Indian association

Mohan has come from a very strict family, a family wer you had to ask baapji permission to even breath, hence the influnce of london culture seemed to be complete freedom to him, no restraints to pull him down.

Mohan was away for 4 years and yes people can change drastically in months so these were 4 years and it so happens when you comes from very close knit family and never experienced any such thing in outside world so you becomes more prone to them and in way of trying them eventually gets addicted to them and suddenly those things becomes more familiar to him than his own roots

it was 4??oh i thought it was 2 Even so.. during those years wouldn't he be in communication with his parents/family.. if they weren't speaking AT ALL then maybe i'd understand
But when you're talking to your parents often, I find it hard to believe he'd move so far from them in beliefs

I think for Mohan and the way his family having lived in that house, with no freedom as such in a sense being timid, and we also see how reserved he was before( judging by Kastur's memory of him) and so much restrictions in the house with Baapji, that being in London seemed liked a breathe of fresh air and freedom to do whatever and however and it does change you, coz you get to live how you like, the simple life in a way, simple things and get done things quickly and so on whilst back at home esp in his household - everything its so much tensed
But Kastur we all know will teach him the value of such traditions and values and their culture, that it should be respected and be proud of it

Baapji is the head of that household. And his views on many things are regressive in the guise of being "Hindustani" (telling the DIL she should only focus on using the spices in the kitchen; doing the exact opposite of what many elders even in the rural areas would do by belittling college and education to the youngest son). I would say that Baapji himself pretty much believes deviation to much of his practices are a result of diluted "Indian-ness."

The people of the house themselves are not happy with him and his way of running things. Mohan, instead of simply rejecting Baapji's beliefs and values, blames it on the traditions and culture as a whole.
