Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy...
No one ever said it would be this hard...
...I'll take it back to the start!

Well here we go then - starting all over again. Gulaal with open hair, smiles, and a light heart. When Kesar asked her kaisi hai tu... she replied, waisi, jaise tu chod kar aya tha... he rightly shakes head and dismisses that claim... nahin, alag lag rahi hai tu...
The difference in appearance? Maybe. But mark that he doesn't comment on her open hair. Because what he's really talking about, is the change of her heart. A decade long burden has been shed off. The shackles have been removed. The secret is out, the rock bottom hit, the separation has happened. And after crossing that finish line of her life's greatest ordeals, Gulaal stands in spirit and person the girl she once was - at a new start up line.
This Gulaal - is different. She is the original prototype that was aired in promos back in November. She is the girl who in letting go of the pallu, and letting lose her hair - has opened the gates, lowered the defenses, done away with the walls. She is the girl who watches in anticipation as Kesar buys a bunch of white flowers from a little temple girl. And proceeds to ask him mujhe dega nahin phul? What a refreshing refreshing return to the start! While it is obvious reminder of the last time Kesar got her flowers and her high strain tension in accepting and doubting them - to me it is also a reminder of the girl who once had the pluck to demand green bangles... and demand the muniyaar should make her wear them! Yes, Kesar can spot a difference, because a decade and all the gore between has probably faded away images of this once upon a time Gulaal out of his vivid memories... besides, when last saw this life in her, he was a 10 year old kid with his new found best friend who he didn't want to share or let go!
Of course, he is also the person who never lost his punk, really. So he asks her why she thinks the flowers are for her? She doesn't think Kesar. She knows. She has always known - but in this fresh new beginning, going back to the start - she has reclaimed her ability to admit what she knows. So she answers back - mujhe laga safed rang mujhe pasand hai... to mere liye honge... And when Kesar replies back - tere siwaa kisi aur ke liye le sakta hu... the reciprocation of that shine in the eyes can dazzle and blind a third onlooker - it does that to me... I can't but stare, and grin, and blush, and swoon, and gush! Oh these two! In the span of one episode to the next, they break your heart, and mend it all over again to overwhelm it with a rush of excitement!
Let's rewind a bit, back to the point Gulaal comes fresh from a shower to follow her routine of dressing like she has for a decade. PooBaa comes and stops her. Tells her she no longer needs to live with the binding, no longer as Kesar's wife, but only as Gulaal. And yes - the mix of emotions in Gulaal's eyes is obvious. She would like to live with the 'binding' if it meant continue being Kesar's wife. But really Gulaal - with him, the binding would never really be! Not figuratively anyway. The Gulaal he loves is the real, original one - the free bird, the independent fiercely spirited girl - who thinks for others because it makes her happy to live for others; not because its her cross to live that way all her life! Who can put her love for people ahead of her responsibility and obligation towards them... He has loved Gulaal in everyway - even with her walls and shackles, but it has pained him to see her recluse and retreat - and how wonderful is this love which blooms when Gulaal finally gives herself, her life a chance! He's been digging at the skeletons to shove them away, put them behind forever, so he could recover this Gulaal - and if it has meant as much as letting her free - he's done that too, and see how wonderful the results are?! Gulaal is a bit hesitant - a decade takes time to throw out of the window - but she doesn't resist or protest - and when Rewa walks in to inform her Kunal has come to see her... she stops in her step. Of course, unlike Kesar, her memory of this Gulaal is probably a lot more vivid, enough to jump at her from the pages of the past anyway. How does anyone not take to this Gulaal? You know how 3 men of the same house, brothers, committed their lives - long and short of it - to her. She wasn't looking for that conflict - but so it was. Gulaal is Indian TV's version of Raymond. Everybody loves her! 😆
Kunal doesn't start at Gulaal's change - and kudos to the CVs to remember trivial nothings like that, and get them right. His acquaintance with Gulaal is too short lived to appreciate the change, or the revival really! And yet, he knows her enough to know to come to her for help, because this quarter will not turn him down. Gulaal has not learned to say no to help, has she?! So when he tells her, he can't reach Kesar, and consequently Talli, could she please call their home phone - he cannot, how would he explain he wants to meet Talli alone and urgently? - she says yes. Her expression says all her apprehension. All her hesitance - but she does it. She calls, and when MB answers the phone, she's at a loss of words for a bit. When she finally greets him, asks after him - MB is not verbally apologetic, but the shift in him is evident. He's more resigned than anything else... but the wall has developed its cracks - its only a matter of time for him to reclaim his favorite daughter. Gulaal being Gulaal asks for Kesar without beating around the bush. And MB tells Kesar to take the call - not who from or what - so when Kesar answers the phone Gulaal's smile through tears tells the story of her heart. When she responds to say its her - a similar reaction reflects in his eyes and expression. Really, one night away, and its like a lifetime - and yet, its like they never really parted?! The circumstance has changed ... they're not under a roof, not husband and wife - but the roof and that DV were only formal stamps really. The love only grows, the friendship has been undeterred through a decade of distance, what can a night do?!
Let's rewind back a little more. To the night before. The darkest night of the day of the DV breaking... when PooBaa discovers the jhumkas in her luggage, Gulaal thinks back to the day they were bought - for her - even if not in her name. And I love love love how the CVs weave in these silly yet brilliant details. Kesar has probably secretly put in those earrings - and there has been no need for words between the two, as to how they have come to her... if they were for Rewa. Really, they both always knew the truth. And what a thing to remember him by... Then Gulaal hears the tinkling of bicycle bell - and she rushes to the door - for obvious reasons. It is not Kesar, and perhaps, this is the one time in her life Gulaal is actually disappointed at the sight of her father?! Lol! I like to think like that 😆 Kesar on the other hand imagines Gulaal walk into his room with food - telling him to eat, they can share the plate - aww, this guy! But then she's gone, disappeared into the thin air - and guess who's actually standing? Talli okay I don't hate her ... and she does talk sense into him, telling him it will all be right, asking him if in his heart he really has lost all hope? and if he hasn't how can he give up - yes, she's being the true friend, but Talli for Gulaal - oh CVs, your love for Talli is as unceasingly obstinate as Kesuda's for Galool 😆
But back to the phone call - Gulaal tells Kesar she needs him to do something for her. Its not for her... but I like the fact that she says it like that. Kunal has come to her for help. And she is asking Kesar. Its not Kulli, but Gulaal - for who Kesar needs to do this. Even if he would have done it for Kulli anyway - I whimsically like that she asks him to do something for her. That's where they've come. Back to the start, but starting with a set of rights already, unlike last time. The past does count after all! She tells him to bring Talli to purana mandir, without letting anyone know, Kunal needs to see her - and he consents, ofc. I suppose there is no 'justification' to why Kunal asks Gulaal to come with him - but hello! He had to ask her. And she had to say yes. Kesar is coming. She smiles to herself as she says yes to him... and we know why the smile really is!
Back to the temple - and the flowers - and blissful pair of smiles. Kulli walk up to GK, and tell them they've decided to marry tomorrow - kiti baar tomorrow karoge yaar?! - but for once, GO KULLI! They're playing cupids second to none. Although GK were never separated in the hearts - here's day 1 of coming back together again - in name, in bond, in norm... to seal it once and for all!
Precap - Kunal is worried what if Kesar cannot bring Talli. Gulaal assures him. Sha has absolute faith in Kesar - jab wo thaan leta hai, to karta hai... Kunal can't help but make the obvious observation - jahan itna bharosa hai wahan to pyaar bhi... ☺️ Kunnu beta, akal ki baat aur tum?! Whoaa whammy! 😆

and that's for today. What a wonderful Friday to Friday we've had from last week to now. There's been difference of opinion over the track - but I have without exception loved how GK have progressed and come to where they stand today. Every step has been as important as the one before, and the one after - I shall miss this show so very much... but I'm loving and living every moment of this countdown to the finale.
Please chip in, like always.
Also - because I'm so immeasurably smug about a bunch of minor nothing doubts I discussed with amigos Nur and Reemz yesterday - I just have to copy paste my predictions come true - how prophetic can I accidentally be?! Yes, very very smug - someone burst my gas bag please, but not today 🤣
Here's the original post I made form yesterday's thread 😎 Maybe more will come true?! 😍
Okay here's a bunch of minor nothings:
