A few issues I wanted to discuss...
1. MID's: In the past couple of weeks too many MID's...too many disgusting PM's... too many personal abuses... too many member attacks. This forum is no more a place it used to be.
Henceforth a zero tolerance policy. Any member who makes a MID just for the purpose of abusing will be banned. No PM's, No warnings. Straight away a ban.
The Salman-Bunty thread was a mess. We dont want a repeat of that. Strict action has been taken on the ones with MID in that thread.
MID accusations in the threads: As far as possible avoid the MID accusations. If you suspect someone just hit the report button or just PM one of the mods. Many times you may be right but recently there was an instance where someone was accused wrongly. Keeping it all discreet will avoid these issues in the future.
Lets all fight against the MID's: Many MID's are created with 0 posts with the sole purpose of abusing members through disgusting PM's. Koolchick and Sheldon have come with a post and some suggestions on how to stop newbies from sending out PM's. Please post your suggestions and any more feedback on the issue. Hopefully the higher authorities of India Forums will look into it and come up with a solution.
2. The ones at the receiving end of abusive posts: Past week many abusive posts were posted in the threads by newbies with highly inappropriate language. I agree its highly annoying and disgusting for the ones at the receiving end. But do we really need to stoop to their level. Do we really need to use the same kind of language and cuss words. The more we respond and the more we get riled up, the person gets a kick out of it. That is exactly what he/she wants. Why give them that pleasure. Just going back and forth is not the solution. It just blows things out of proportion. Just ignore it and report to the mods. The mods will look into it and take the required action.
3. Mods and the response time: Mods too have a life just like the rest of the members in the forum. None of them can be here 24/7 to monitor things. Added to that they are in different timezones... different countries... It all adds up to the response time...
Once the requests/reports/complaints come in, sometimes it is looked at immediately and sometimes it takes longer depending on the time difference or depends on how busy the mod is with other things at that particular time.
And if it is more serious like a ban then it takes longer. We need to get in touch with the global moderator who may be in a different timezone and this agains adds up to the response time.
All I am trying to say is sometimes it may take a day or sometimes couple of days to set things right.
4. Having a different opinion is not bashing: Not everyone will have the same opinion. How hard is it to let go. No amount of going back and forth will change someone else's opinion on a particular celeb. Having a different opinion or just criticising a celeb is not bashing or trashing. It is just a difference of opinion or ideas.
Back and forth arguments to defend or criticise the celebs just does not lead anywhere other than adding up the pages. After a while things start getting personal and everything goes hay wire.
This spoils the discussion for the ones who want to discuss on topic. Eventually a good discussion topic gets locked. Limit the discussions in the threads to just the celebs and any personal issues with each other take it to the CC thread or the member's lounge.
Regarding the celebs, The criticism, the opinions of the people here will no way affect the star power, the popularity of the celebs. India forums is not a reflection of the general audience. Actually the ones criticized the most here are the most popular ones outside.
A negative feedback here, a negative feedback there... How does it matter. Why take it personally.
I am sure the celebs too have learnt to take it in a stride. Its all a part of the package. With fame and and adultation comes the criticism too. Two sides of the same coin...
5. Some celeb threads have turned into virtual war zones: Some of the arguments have become very redundant... very repetitive...
Especially Salman threads have become very hostile in recent times. Things go way off topic. I do agree that all us go off topic many times... I do that too :)
But in some of his threads pages and pages of off topic banter. The same arguments, the same opinions... Eventually things get nasty. The mods have to intervene. Nobody even listens and then finally the thread is closed. Then in the next thread again lather, rinse, repeat. The same cycle continues all over again. On a trial basis for a month or two lets discuss only the topic in all Salman threads. No more off topic in his threads. Lets give it a try and see how it goes.
In short...Let's all chill and have fun here. Lets get some balance here so that everyone can co-exist and at the same time it can be a fun place it once was...
Let me end it here. I had a few points to discuss and this turned into an essay...😳
Let me specifically say that except for the MID issue I had no particular member or any fan group in mind when I discussed the rest of the issues ...It could be any of us one time or the other and that includes me too... 😊
