Cezzane Khan and Shweta Tiwari, Anurag and Prerna of Kasautii
Zindagii Kay (Star Plus), nonetheless, love the trials and
tribulations their on-screen romance faces. And that's despite the
fact that Kasautii… is your usual Ekta Kapoor family soap, tailormade
to suit the bored housewife's taste.
Cezzane, in town to give away prizes at the Ebony Mega Sail promotion
on Thursday, says: "I'm a fun person in real life, who likes to chill
out. My theatre background really helped me understand my role in the
serial." The soft-spoken son of a rich father on screen, Cezzane has
worked with the Ankur Theatre gr-oup in Mumbai, besides working in TV
serials like Hasratein (Zee TV) and Pal Chinn (Star Plus).
Cezzane is now eyeing 70 mm screen stardom: "There are a few offers
but I'll keep quiet till I actually sign on the dotted line. I'm
dying to play the action hero."
His on-screen love, Shweta, is admittedly "naughtier" than the
serious Prerna she plays. "As a child I wanted to be a dancer. I was
spotted by director Shahid Latif, a judge at a dance competition, who
offered me a chance to act on stage," she says. Shweta got noticed
and was offered Rishtey on Zee TV.
"Television has a wider reach than films now, and we get mobbed even
while shopping or eating at a restaurant – it's crazy," says Shweta,
who has also worked in Aaane Wala Kal.
But then, like Cezzane, she wouldn't mind a crossover to films. "You
just have to be good at what you do. The rest is manageable," she
says.
And her parting shot is laced with ambition: "Ten years down the line
I'll be where Aishwarya Rai is today."
