Actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee recently opened up about her ongoing fight—not just for her son Joy, who was recently targeted by online trolls—but also against racism and discrimination. She shared that her aim is to work toward a world where everyone is treated equally, regardless of background.

Speaking out, Devoleena said, "As a celebrity, I’ve always accepted trolling that comes with fame—people comment on my work, lifestyle, even my marriage. I chose not to react and stayed silent, knowing that love and hate both come with public life. I believed it was my right to ignore them."

However, things changed when her baby boy, Joy, became the target. “My silence was taken for granted,” she said. “These trolls didn’t stop at me and crossed a line by attacking my child. They seemed to forget that racism is not only hurtful but also a serious offense. I know my son will grow up strong—he is Devoleena’s son after all.”

After addressing the negativity publicly, the actress took firm action. She posted screenshots of hateful messages on her Instagram stories and officially filed a complaint with the cyber crime department.

“I’m standing up against racism,” she stated firmly. “I want to see a society free of discrimination where every person can enjoy their basic rights. Each of us has the power to take a stand against racial hate and disrespect. Don’t ignore such acts—make them face the law.”

Devoleena also criticized some media houses for supporting the trolls through careless headlines. “It’s shocking to see some parts of the media giving space to trolls. Whether the trolls were fake or intentional, the media should have understood the sensitivity of the matter,” she added.

She concluded by saying, “I’ve taken the legal route and I will not let anyone get away with this. I want to ensure no parent or child faces this kind of trauma in the future. I’m grateful to the cyber crime team for their quick action. Many of the accounts that harassed us are no longer active—but they will still be tracked down.”
